Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

nice strong aroma of hops. nice medium carbonation. the hops seemed grassy/hay-like to me and my friend also drinking it. somewhat dry mouthfeel. definitely went down easy.

A floral aroma dominates this IPA. The flavor continues with the aroma hops and finishes with a crisp bitterness.

Hazy gold, scanty white head with extensive lacing. Pine and grapefruit, biscuity malt. Nice lingering bitterness.

Pours a nice clear gold with a lasting white head. Nice hoppy flavor but not too over the top in bitterness. This would be a great session IPA. Thanks Branden for this one.

(1/18/06) Crystal clear golden body with rocky off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some lemon. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, light lemon, caramel/cookie. Bitter, but not as much as I remember, though I last had it in the days before IIPAs. Medium body, quite drinkable. Excellent IPA, no letdown despite being a re-rate of one of my first 600 beers. (7/26/02) I know I’m a sucker for brews with big Cascade flavor, but so what! The aroma is strong grapefruit, letting you know what’s on its way. Flavorwise, this baby’s well-balanced, with a healthy malt backbone in support. A fine beer for those who like what it has to offer. (9/4/8/4/16)

This one pours a deep golden yellow color with a small, lingering white head. It has an aroma full of floral hop spiciness. Medium bodied, with a nice piney hop flavor, slightly bitter finish, and a lingering malt sweetness. This is a solid IPA, well hopped but not overly so, with a decent malt backbone. I could drink this frequently.

This is an excellent IPA. Pale copper/amber cross, clear with a nice soupy white head with a touch of yellow in the foam. The aroma is a very complex hop profile. You’ve got pepper, citrus and pine all meshed together in a sinus-tingling mix. The flavor is fairly dry but manages to barely keep away from the all hop, no malt unbalancing of some IPAs. There’s still enough malt flavor in here to support the hops and bitterness despite it being very highly attenuated. Excellent IPA that excites the nose and tongue.

Really in the mood for this - just hit the spot. Reminds me a bit of Live Oak Liberation. Well made IPA with floral hops that go to partying in the nose and mouth. Mighty fine.
