Obviously, the taste is very hoppy, grapefruity with citrus, pine and good malt backing. Mouthfeel is very full, thick, round with a nice bitter aftertaste. Nice lacing on the glass. Highly recommended. Reminds me a little of Anderson Valley Hop Ottin' IPA. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2004 Pours dark straw colored, with great head and great lacing. Aromas of lemon, hops, yeast, and pronounced grapefruit. Tastes extremely hoppy (as hoppy as Tupper's and Sierra Nevada), with citrus hints. Finishes very smooth, hoppy, citrusy, and slightly dry. I'm going to do a side by side with this, Sierra Nevada, Tupper's, and Stone's. When that happens, I'll post in the forums. A hall of fame IPA. euserphriendly (163), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Nice light amber pour with a lasting disappating white head. The body is a little light on the malt to balance the extremely hoppy overtones. The hops give the beer a grapefruit/citrus taste. Dry and bitter finish. FlySwatter (34), USA

It has since become one of my mainstay IPA’s due to its well balanced dance with the hops and malt. valejo (81), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Pours a clear gold with a thin white head leaving terrific lacing. Excellent nose, heavy on the grapefruit and citrus. Flavor is of grapefruit with pine, even a touch of peach. Perhaps a bit thin; not overwhelmingly bitter. Very drinkable. Slightly better than its rating would indicate. Indy (87), Hopkins, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2006 A great IPA. Very pale golden color, with creamy white head. Heavy lacing. Piney and citrusy hop aromas dominate. Flavor follows aroma with the hop bitterness dominating. Definitely off-balance in terms of malts and hops...but for those of us who enjoy truly hoppy west coast IPA’s, this is a good beer. HopDevil1979 (117), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2006 Pours crystal clear and filtered with a huge frothy head. Medium amber color. Smells of fruity hops... many of them! Tastes like a hoppy meal! Not overly hoppy, but not malty either. I think they nailed this! Ogglethorp from W. Virginny must be hammered already because this beer is not hazy, its clear/. Bubbles off the palate nicely// Overall, a sweet treat/
