Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Nice cloudy orange color with a light head and average lacing. Aroma of pine, floral and hops but is a bit weak compared to some of the finer IPAs. Taste is so smooth and pure but again weak in hops and citrus flavor compared to some of my favorites. Finish is crisp and dry. Solid beer.

12oz. bottle - pours with a nice and foamy white head on top of a pale, clear yellow/gold body. Aroma is very hoppy, primarily with grapefruit and other citric notes. Flavour makes this a very well balanced but hop forward, offering no surprises from what is found in the aroma but does everything very well. Why should I be surprised anyway, when the beer is this solid all the way through. Finish is perfectly bitter to remain sessionable and thirst quenching, and the earthier hop notes come forward. Hugely drinkable. Great.

A murky golden color in the glass. This leaves plenty of lacing on the side of the glass. Smell is bittering hops. Taste is absolutely wonderful! Wonderful bitter hop taste. Plenty of juicy hop flavor and bitterness to balance it out. This is a very well done IPA. Among the best. Crisp and refreshing, definitely won’t be the last that I have.

Pours a lovely, clear, deep gold with a thick white head that leaves immense patches of lace on the glass. The aroma is a pleasant balance of sweetness and perfumey hops. There are citrus notes, flowery -almost minty- notes, and some hints of caramel and light honey. The flavor continues this appealing balance: a dose of flowery, bitter, spicy hops with just a touch of citrus combines elegantly with the flavors of cane sugar, light crystal barley malts, and a hints of fruit and toffee. The sweet malts are firm through to the middle of the tongue. The back of the tongue picks up a distinct hoppy bitterness. The beer finishes dry, is well carbonated to deliver a creamy mouthfeel, and is surprisingly light in body considering how much flavor it packs. Overall, an excellently-made IPA.

Really potent hops aroma and a very strong bitter taste. Smooth palate and a very intoxicating aroma. Well balanced.

bottle 12 oz. - golden pour with small white head. Aroma - citrus, mango and grapefruit. Just plain hop goodness!!! Flavor - pungent hops with good balance of malt. Very nice smooth citrus taste. Palate - medium somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Above average carbonation with mild bitter finish. Overall - Excellent IPA, First taste is top notch with average finish, a little soapy!

This one is all hops. Tastes is more bitter than the aroma leads you to believe. Strong bitterness in the finish. Pours a hazy bright orange color. One of the best IPAs available in CT.

Pours a totally clear bright gold color. Head leaves tons of lacing all over the glass. Smells of fresh hops, and the flavor follows suit. Very fresh and crisp. Not overly thick or sweet, very nicely hopped. Has some honey and nuts in there too. Only complaint is the finish isn’t quite as bitter as it could be. Good stuff though!
