Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Crystal clear amber, large white lasting head. Hop aromas take charge quickly,. Medium mouthfeel with an initial caramel malt flavor that is quickly subdued by the pine and spice hop flavors. But, the malt base conitnues into the finish, balanced by hop bitterness that lingers. Up there with the good ones.

Pours amber into a shaker. Off-white head with excellent retention leaves slight sheets as it recedes to coat surface. Pine and resin aromas. Crisp and well-balanced. Lasting pine and resin finish. Nice one.

Bottle. One of my favorite IPAs. It is hoppy but not quite to the extent of a West Coast hop bomb. It is more agressive than a MidWestern IPA. Great aromas of hops, flowers and citrus, flavors of pine, citrus, esters and of course flowery hops. Nice bittersweet finish.

Dry medium bodied IPA. I like this- not too bitter with more subtle hints of pine and grapefruit than some IPA’s. Excellent finish. Very smooth.

orange with a small off white head. Aroma is hoppy, earthy, resinous, with malt and grains, taste is grapefruit, citrus hops with a sweet, and lightly fruity middle, dry and bitter long lasting finish.

This is a great looking beer. The head is rich and foamy and the color is perfect for an IPA. The flavor is a bit hop intense, even for the style, but not so much that it’s overpowering. Overall, a very good IPA.

What a beer. Beautiful gold, with a persistent and sticky white head. Aroma of biscuity malt and floral hops. Delicious rounded malt on the palate with complex floral/perfumey hops. Dense, firm bitterness without peeling the tongue. I could drink a lot of this. Love that it has made it to New Zealand.

Clear golden color, medium white head and a fair amount of lacing. Middle of the road pungent-ness. The aroma is solid Chinook type hops. This beer has the same hop aroma and hop taste profile as Stone’s Arrogant Bastard Ale although maybe toned down just a bit. But this beer does not have the same malt backbone. I taste a slight sweet caramel from lightly roasted malt grains. This is a really tasty IPA. Nice job (again!) Avery.
