Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Lighter orange body, with a nice lacy head. Strong citrus and hoppy aroma - very pleasant and robust. A hint of ash as well. Dry and crisp. Highly grapefruited flavor. A tad tart, and although its not very sweet at all, it is quite refreshing. Overall, not disappointing.

A lot of citrus in both the aroma and the flavor. Nice bite on the finish. A good IPA.

Bottle. Pours a light golden-orange coloured body with a large frothy white head slowly receding leaving lace sheets. Beautiful IPA aroma - tons of orange citrus oil and doughy bread. Big hoppy bite up front...sharp and piney for the most part with an underlying creaminess. Long and chewy bitter finish. A solid IPA! Purchased at Bello Vino in Ann Arbor in April 2006.

Golden coloured beer if i've ever seen golden, with a dense white head. Smells of citrus, sweet pineapple and very fragrant hops. A very nice aroma, and definately mouth-watering. Piney in the hops and sweet with the malt. Medium-bodied; The tates lasts for a long-time and the hops are the primary flavour (which they should be). Aftertaste full of the piney hops and bitter the mouth...a real treat for Hop-heads like me! Overall one of the better American IPAs. Pick one up if you can find it! Even though i've had this beer before, I still enjoy posting new reviews for the same beer. I bougtht this single 12 ounce bottle at Chevy Chase Wines & Spirits in Washington, D.C. I sampled this beer on 30-August-2003. Rating for this tasting: 9,4,9,4,16. Previous Tasting:
Light in colour, very hoppy in the nose...citrusey and hoppy taste...light-bodied, but enjoyable!

My first experience with an IPA. Nice golden color, and an aroma that overflowed with citrus smells. White foamy head. The taste was excellent. The citrus that was there in the aroma came through in the taste. The hops were also very present. My introduction to IPAs was a good one, and cannot wait to try more.

Amber color with smallish head when poured in a St. Bernardus tulip glass. Beautiful floral hop aroma. The flavor is a sweet floral bitterness that is just incredible. Nice dry finish. Had it again @ Blind Tiger through Randall, which I didn't care for. Had it again on Randall and still didn't like it.

12 oz. bottle. Had to grab something to get the awful Shiner Leicht out of my palate. This saves me with a nice whiff of grapefruit hops as soon as I pop the cap. Pours a cloudy IPA orange with a rocky head, dwindling with a bit of lace. Taste actually starts with thick, creamy malts, close to a caramel chew. Cheek to cheek with our favorite American hops; the 3C’s plus a puckery smack of Amarillos, I think. Like gargling with Pine-Sol, but in a good way. Keeps its balance all the way down. Yay.

Bottle: Aroma is strong citrus hops. Pours a transparent orangish-yellow with a nice white head with good retention. Great lacing. Nice quick citrus taste up front followed by a strong hoppy finish. Very good balance. Long hop grapefruit aftertaste. Very nice IPA.
