Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

This is my favorite IPA, i am a manager of a Restaurant & Wine/Beer Shop in NC and this is the best selling beer that i carry. Not only because it is a personal favorite but because of the overall quality. great balance of malts and citrus hops.

Bottle. Pours light gold and cloudy with a thin white head. Citrus hop aroma. Malt and grapfuit flavors with a bitter finish. Pairs nicely with Thai food.

Bottle at Olympen. Pours a slight hazy orange, big white soapy head. Plenty of lacing. Nice. Aroma is packed with tropical fruits. Grapefruit, passion fruit, apricot and perhaps some peach. Some bisquity malts barely detectable. They come forth a bit more when the brew warms. It could have used a tad more sweetness to balance it all out. Otherwise, the carbonation was pretty much spot on, sparkly but not overly so, just made this beer refreshing. Body was appropriate light to medium. Easy drinkin’.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a int glass. The color is light orange and pretty darn clear with about a finger of white foamy head and some slight lacing. The smell has strong orange zest flavor. A bit of a pint of sugar in the nose, behind that is a slight lime flavor with some bitter hops. The taste is a mix of some nice bitterness from the hops and some sweet citrus flavors, mainly orange but a little grapefruit and a little lemon or lime is present. The feel of this beer is pretty light. It goes down well and just seems pretty smooth. Is tab bit carbonated so it does have a slight fizz to it. Overall a really great IPA.

Pours straw yellow-orange hazy color. Thick head. Nose has hay, straw, dusty straw at that. On palate is a surprising malt focus with the hops, almost honeyed malt with the hop assertiveness to balance. This ale strikes me as an american pale ale that is a little overhopped, not necessarily an American IPA. Very appetizing finish though - keeps you yearing for the next sip. Nice.

12 fl. oz. bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Clear dark golden color, nice off-white head. Aroma is typical American hops. Flavor is malt, moderate sweet, hops and fine, but not extreme bitterness.

Taster at The Mondial de la biere 09 in Montreal. The color is honey with a thin beige head. The aroma is of fruits and hops. The taste also is very hoppy with citrus fruits a bit of malt and the bitterness. This one left a very pleasant taste in the mouth.
