Something of a stone fruit undercurrent. Poured clear amber with a humongous frothy white head that laced. A bit thin bodied. Floral hop. Fruity spice. Not as sugary as the dubbels or tripels. Not as alcoholic either. The finish is relatively dry, and it seems to leave hop bitter all over the mouth. Really good approach. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

5/30/2007: Avery Karma Ale pours a clear, golden yellow color with a medium foamy ivory head that leaves some foamy lacing. The aroma is bland malts and initially has some sweet orange and hint of corriander (similar to a Belgian Wit). The flavor is like that of generic beer with a vegetable-like backend. The alcohol is also somewhat obvious and the thin, overcarbonated palate. This is a weird brew.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 30, 2007 Pour was a light gold with a thin one tan white head. Aroma of burnt malt. Tastes like a sad attempt at a Belgian. There are American brewers who can pull it off but not this. Carbonation is too weak, and taste is too subdued. bobaidan (370), Farmington, Connecticut, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 25, 2007 Pours a copper color with a smallish head. Aroma is slightly fruity , but mostly yeast. Flavor is slightly bitter, and very thin. Not a bad beer, but nothing special, and definitely not true to a Belgian ale. TheShat (131), Lakewood, Ohio, USA

The flavor is sweet, malty, and very mellow. It tastes like a happy beer. Finish is sweet and malty. Where are the hot dogs!? This is a cookout brew! Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 23, 2007 Clear, dark golden with a decent head. Aroma of caramel malts, undefined spiciness and anise...they aiming for Kwak? Sweet, somewhat uneventful palate with a little spiciness in the finish. Never was into the whole "Belgian pale" thing. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2007 Copper color, small head and medium flow of bubbles. Honey infuzed aroma mixed with cherry, ending in a bready wheat. Medium mouthfeel leaning towards the heavy side for this style but definitely refreshing. A buttery flavor that favors the lightly toasted malt. Just enought hops to balance. A satisfying change from the world of overly bitters and watery pales.
