January 2006 batch poured into a tulip glass. Very, very black in color. I got a decent head which surprised me given the high alcohol; I thought higher ABV = less head. It smells sugary and roasted. The taste is cloyingly sweet and almost meaty. I just cannot get past the sweetness I did not like this stout at all, I would much prefer a Storm King, Old Rasputin, or a Stone IRS. I can’t believe I dropped seven bucks on a 12oz bottle of this stuff although I should be glad its not a bomber. I saw a poster at the liquor store advertising a new batch of this stuff with an ABV of 16%, yuck.

Nose is a bit alcoholic, dark fruit, chocolatem and some roast. Taste is sweet and syrup like with lots of sugar and some alcohol. I liked this one but it did not blow me away. jcr (1148), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Greenish/tan head. Heavy malt aroma of molasses and roasted/burnt malts. Notes of chocolate and alcohol. The flavor is heavily sweet and moderately to heavily burnt malt/coffee bitter. Full body with a syrupy texture. Plenty of carbonation. The alcohol is quite evident in the dry finish. A big beer and that’s about it.

Extremely sweet front, with strong cherry notes and subtle hints of chocolate. Somewhat smooth mouthfeel, with only a slight alcohol tingle......nice considering the ABV. Long heavy malt back, with a somewhat spicy finish. msante79 (814), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA

Flavor is burnt malts, coffee and chocolate. Thick with alcohol burn. Could use some balance would be interesting if they barrel aged it. Not worth the $8 considering you could get a bomber of Oak Aged Yeti for same price. OSLO (826), Perth, Australia

Taste is sweet with a huge amount of alcohol and a fairly decent amount of roasted malt and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel with a long finish of mainly alcohol. This was too sweet and the alcohol was wayyy too dominant. Some nice aspects to it, but overall not my thing. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Giant roast and chocolate nose tells of things to come. Thick, viscous mouthfeel. After the initial alcohol burn subsides, a healthy dose of sweet chocolate hits and continues through to the finish. Plentiful array of malts display everything from black coffee to subtle almond. Very good.
