ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA May 21, 2007 Jan ’06; batch 1. Fruity nose settling into caramel, chocolate, coffee, toffee, brown sugar, and butterscotch; ABV completely incognito. Black. The mostly lasting stiff brown creamy head leaves a thin curtain of lace. The start is overwhealmingly sweet. The middle is very fruity. Very complex; almost overpowering, with a lingering roasted finish. The full body is chewy and soft. This brew is no joke folks. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 20, 2007 Had this right after Alesmith Speedway. (at brunch) Whoa. Pours thick and black like oil! This one gives you the chills a little. intense roasted malts, anise, chocolate and vanilla, alcohol. Its very port like in its sweetness. schmidtserland (6), Exton, Pennsylvania, USA does not count May 20, 2007 Loved it...Wife hated it...It’s a keeper. Had it at The Drafting Room Exton, not sure how long it was aged but really enjoyed it. Would love to cellar and try in 6 months! TampaBeer (181), Tampa, Florida, USA May 19, 2007 yowsers, there’s some punch in this one. Delicious aroma. The flavor is pretty sweet, and warming - but is overwhelmed by the alcohol a bit on the finish, as is the palate. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA May 16, 2007 (bottle - 12 oz: Batch 2) Dark black oily pour with a very thin tan head. Aroma is very roasty and dark. Lots of dark fruits mixed with alcohol, chocolate, malts, and wine. Some sherry as well and a little oak. Flavor explodes in your mouth. Very roasty and dark with a lot of burnt and toasted malts, chocolate, oak chips, and cherries. Tons of flavors all rolled up into one with a strong alcohol burn at the end. This thing could use some more aging. Derrick17 (10), Colorado, USA May 14, 2007 I was not impressed with this beer, the only part I liked was the aroma. It was almost like the sugars added were over powering the beer. I did not think this beer shows very good balance of flavor. I’m ok for a few sips, but after this it ruins my palate. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA May 13, 2007 Even after 6months in the cellar this beer still isn’t ready. Still very hot and young, this beer needs maybe a year or two to start really picking up its full brilliance. Even being as young as this beer is it packs some incredible flavors. Rich port flavors, dark fruit, cherries, oak, vanilla, and lots of roasted chocolate flavors. Like sipping a fine glass of port this beer is big, with layers of flavor that settle in waves kicking in memories of desserts long ago, whether it be chocolate covered cherries or a port and chocolate pairing. This beer will just keep gaining quality for a long time to come. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 12, 2007 Batch #2 bottle, picked up from Blue Max, in Burnsville, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with an awesome tan head that slowly dissolves. Very thick and chewy lacing. Aroma is sweet molasses, tawny port, dark Belgian chocolate, vanilla, some currants and plums. Taste is, oooh man, smooth, dark chocolate, over ripe oranges, and dark blackberries. Palate is lightly carbonated, thick, chewy, and so much warmth from the alcohol. Finish is a sweet bitterness that makes this sipping type well remembered. Well done!
