lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Mar 30, 2007 Pours thick black with small brown head. Strong chocolate aroma with hints of coffee, plum, and whiskey. Extremely complex flavor of chocolate, molasses, whiskey, tobacco and an achohol burn. Body is thick and sticky. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Mar 28, 2007 12oz bottle, wow, interesting brew. Pours a murky black with dark dark brown head, flavor is good, but tasted like Beef Jerky right out of the glass, after warming taste sweetened substantially and beer became very roasty and sweet. alcohol burns in the finish but not enough to be a demon. gottalottaibu (242), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Mar 27, 2007 pours beautifully black with a great dark brown head. strong alcohol and coffee aroma with some dark chocolote that adds some roasted sweet undertones. flavor is definately roasted with burnt bitterness but is levelled off with hints of sweetness. very enjoyable and definately a sipper. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 25, 2007 Bottle, batch 2. Opaque dark brown pour with a fine tan head. Really complex aroma - cork, figs, raisins, light hops, toffee, caramel, banana... coffee, with a creamy/vanilla sweetness to it. Flavor is really roasty and sweet, with a very nice finish. Sweet and astringent at the same time, probably due to the alcohol. I just had too many sips back to back, I have to slow down, so my rating is over. Velvety mouthfeel. Really nice, this is definitely a sipping beer. Reminds me of a sweeter speedway stout without the balanced nuances. Barley69 (23), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 22, 2007 I taste phenols like they tried belgian yeast in an imperial stout. not a very good idea or a very good beer for that matter. it’s going to take me 2 hours to finish this. And at 9 bucks a bottle I could have gotten a world wide stout or better yet a six pack of Bigfoot
Bad try! TheOrange (405), Kent, Ohio, USA Mar 18, 2007 Pitch black heavy pour, with a good sized deep brown head. Aroma is mostly from the high alcohol content. There are some basic malt scents there but they are faint. Definitely full bodied, flavor is strong caramelized malts and much roasted malt goodness. there are many many other flavors, I look at the list of flavors I should expect, and I can say I can’t make out the grapes, cherries or rum. Still very tasty. The Alcohol flavor dominates the finish. The Finish is surprisingly clean for such a heavy stout. Not an easy drink, but at that content, you don’t want to have too many. Very Fine Imp. Stout.
carl4beer (391), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Mar 16, 2007 pours pitch with a nice dark tan head. malty, hoppy, chocolaty. Has a great mouthful of flavor and a lingering hop and alcohol bite. impressive 16% legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Mar 15, 2007 Holy shit, this bad boy hit my head like a fucking bowling bwol- A MORE succint rate to follow, but this mferer hit right up side the head. shit/
