brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA May 10, 2009 ick, was like drinking malt syrup. I understand its supposed to be crazy, but i think a rating of 99%ile is a bit outrageous, but then again, how do you even classify this beast? jlf278 (250), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2009 Good reddish dark brown with small, but lasting head. Aroma is mostly light whiskey/bourbon. Flavor is extremely sweet with dates, coffee, licorice, raisins, chocolate and a hint of chipotle. Palate is thick as they come, naturally very smooth and silky, just a little too wet. Overall, there’s a nice alcohol burn that you feel not just going down but on the tongue too, like a spicy pepper. The finish on this baby is the sweetest and most enjoyable I’ve ever experienced. however, the flavor is just way too sweet despite being somewhat balanced by the alcohol. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 Dark black with a medium dark brown head. Rich sugery aroma of roasted malt, candy, soy and dates. Flavor is really sweet and rich with raisons, dates, soy, roasted malt and licorice altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 30, 2009 Queen’s Day in Amsterdam. Drinking the last bottle from Coldbrewky. A mean black pour with murky brown head. This looks like some stout. Nose of roasted malts and dark chocolate. A smashing taste of chocolates, caramel, dark fruits and roasted malts. It’s really powerful but also really creamy and goes down well. The high ABV barely noticeable. Thanks again Steve for yet another excellent brew. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours midnight black with a 2 finger brown head that leaves delicate lacing. The nose is dark chocolate, burnt caramel and roasted malt. The taste is dark fruits, cocoa, burnt malt, roasted coffee and some ABV burn in the finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Not as hot as I expected, but there’s still a burn in the finish. Not something I’d buy again at the $7/12oz price point, but a good IS nonetheless. jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 28, 2009 Wouw. You can tell when it is poured. It is motor oil.
Sweet liquorice and a little hops. The ABV can be smelled, but is nicely integrated in the taste.
Better than Beer Geek Brunch Weasel? Maybe not? - But fantastic.
-I need a toothbrush now... plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Apr 26, 2009 Bottle. Thanks for swapping, hallinghansen. Black as coal with a small tan head. Roasty aroma with lots of dark fruits, brown sugar, sweet malt, tobacco and chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium creamy. Loads of sweet malt, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits and rum and it ends up sweet and alcoholic.
