| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Bottle. Black pour, brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and dark toast. Flavor is overpowering and I really didnt enjoy the stouts battle with the alcohol. Way to much alcohol going on in this. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a brown head. Rich chocolate/caramel malt aroma with some backing coffee. Rich caramel/toffee flavor with alcohol, roast, and a bit of grapefruit hops. Lingering sweet toffee and grapefruit. Full body - a bit too full. Alcohol definately present. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2006 The pour reveals a pitch black color with a thin brown head. Great aroma of chocolate, coffee and alcohol, it’s appealing and makes me want to drink this beer. The flavor though, this is another story, the chocolate, coffee and alcohol are there but it is mostly very sweet, too sweet, way too sweet. The body has a light to medium thickness with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation. I’m not too crazy about this beer but it has some qualities and I will make sure to try it again. skortila (2903), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2009 Bottled @ København Ølfestival 2009. Aroma has rasin, chocolate and is quite fruity. Black coloured beer with a beige head. The taste is sweet with a chocolate bitter finish. It is full of raisins and plums. Toffee there. It has a heavy alcoholic burn in the finish, which is not good. The beer has a lot of potential, only if the alcohol is not that much present. BMan1113VR (2868), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2008 Batch 3, bottled November 2007. Indicated ABV of 16.00%. Wow this is a great beer, truley something outside the realm of a stout. Aroma is strongly roasted coffee with some brown sugar, hazelnut, cherries and hazelnut, with some light yeast apparent at temperature. Color is a very very dark brown, but close enough to black to make no difference. The head pour is small and brown, it goes away quickly but leaves ’okay’ lacing. Alcohol dominates the taste, which isn’t a bad thing. Tastes neearly like a barely wine till the finish which is a nice stout-y tasting finish. There is also a nice middle bit of the taste which is smooth and sweet with a slight hint of floral hops. Alcohol is high, but never harsh while sipping. Mouthfeel is extra creamy with a soft-creamy carbonation feel on the mouth. Excellent in my humble opinion. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 1, 2006 Oily black color with a thick dark brown head and nice sticky lacing. Huge aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa , plums and coffee. Rich body with a bold coffee liqueur flavor, along with dark fruit, caramel and toffee flavors. Brandy and port wine lend to the high-ABV feel of this. The finish is long and vinous, with an espresso and hops aftertaste. This is a sipper for sure, and every sip is very good. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 20, 2006 As black as they come with a small light-brown head. Aroma of burnt toasts, alcohol, coffee and cacao. Tastes more like an alcoholised coffee with added brown sugar than an Imperial Stout per say. The alcohol leaves a burning sensation in the throat. Not a beer I could drink before being “warmed-up”. It was one of the last beer at a tasting party I attended and I was pretty plastered so the alcohol level didn’t seem so extreme. At that point I was ready to try anything, even a Beet Beer... which I did! Pinball (2817), Allerød, Denmark

pitch dark, large thick smooth brown head. thick lacing and a nice colour play as the beer glides down the glass into the brown head. lovely. sweet brown sugar and licroice based aroma, also toffee, chocolate, hops (shows itself as a slight sour or acid note), you can smell i’ts strong, but i would not guess more than 10-11 pct.
flavor is fantastic. very strong and potent, and consisting of numerous flavors. licorice, roasted grains, coffee, malts, honey, brown sugar, vanilla.
