Mephistopheles is the crafty shape shifter, the second fallen angel. Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety and liqueurish, this demon has a bouquet of vine-ripened grapes, anise and chocolate covered cherries with flavors of rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits and a double espresso finish. Mephistopheles is the final installment of "The Demons of Ale" series.

Bottle Batch 3, all the way from Beer and Keg World Boca Raton Florida. Pours a solid black beer with a huge tan creamy head. Aroma is a dark oil of dark chocolate and dark fruit. Flavor is an intense kick of roast liquerish and chocolate with a strong alcohol finish, which is good. I love this beer thanks J tiki

Bottle, batch 2. Pours near black with a tan head. Roasted aroma with dark chocolate, wood and a hint at cherry like fruit. Palate is bit boozy and harsh, but it really doesn’t diminish the overall experience. Roasted flavor, a bit sweet even, with dark chocolate and a long coffee finish. Very nice.

Pours a thick opaque black with a healthy brown head. Aroma has fresh cherries, a lot of dark roasted malts, candy sugar, brown sugar. Flavor is wow: Starts out polite at first but about halfway through, bam! Those are the malts talking to you. A definite malt bomb as some would call it. And I like them. The cherries reappear in the flavor with force. There’s a really nice hop counterpoint to the flavor too. Tarry, resinous finish, mouth-coating. Rich, luxurious mouthfeel, upper medium viscosity. This is probably my favorite from Avery so far. They are definitely in pro form on this one. Overall, world class. Thanks Avery.

Black in color with thick dark tan head.... Aroma has hints of oak and maple syrup.... Alcohol content is apparent in aroma... Flavor is extremely sweet, hints of brown sugar, maple syrup, black cherry, dark chocolate and vanilla.... Very malty, alcohol content lingers on the palate and gives it nice balance... Phenomenal...

.batch 3 Bottle. Nose is alcohol, coffee, roasted malts licorice. Wow. A powerful but very tasty beer. Strong, thick bodied. Full flavored. Some sweetness. Hints of licorice some vanilla. A hint of burn but easy to drink for 16% drinks like an espresso port. Really enjoyed this.

Pours jet black from the bottle with a toasted brown head of foam. Loaded with dark fruits and zinfandel on the nose with flavors of bakers cocoa, cherries, black licorice, and faint coffee. Mops your palate with alcohol on the finish. Very aggressive, almost as if the beer is staring at you and daring you to drink it.

12oz bottle. Deep dark pour, dark tan head. Huge roasty, caramel, fruity aroma, very rich. Big dark fruit flavor, very big rich chocolatly with an alcohol punch at the end, quite good.
