Commercial Description:
A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

Crushed with Jakebra. Got it cask-conditioned at the brewery. Very roasty. Coffee, roast, hops. This one’s got everything. A little thin bodied, but still an excellent porter.

Pours extremely dark, mahogany in color with a glint of crimson when strongly backlit. A large, well retained head of khaki colored foam leaves sticky, skinny lines and random spots of lacing behind. The aroma is very hoppy for a porter, notes of earthen hops complementing a bitter, roasty coffee and dark cocoa malt profile. There’s very little sweetness, most of it stemming from hints of burnt caramel. Flavors follow suit, again showing about as bitter as any porter I can recall. The dry hopping really lends a sharp edge to the roasty, bittersweet chocolate and coffee malts. Medium-plus in body, with balanced carbonation, the palate starts lightly syrupy but quickly transitions to semi-dry for the finish. This is a nice, tasty brew, but I’m not quite sure I could drink a few of them due to the overwhelming bitter roast.

12oz bottle. Big aroma of sweet vanilla and chocolate malt. Top notch aroma. Molasses. Pours dark brown / black, deep brown rocky head. Flavor is rich and malty, deep roasted malts, hints of coffee beans (postum?). The best American made Porter I think I’ve had. Balanced and medium bodied. I love it.

Dark opaque pour with short white head. Traces of deep purple through the light but sits black otherwise. Smells of sour milk, salty caramel, dark fruity malt, light coffee chocolate and hop. Mouth is alive. Tastes of mild roasty malt mingle nicely with bitter hop finish. Not huge but drinkable, easy going porter. Nice Avery brew, and worth a 6er.

pours ruby/black, thin golden/off white head Aroma is malty and chocolate, light scent of dark fruits and sweet, light notes of hops. Taste, light roasted malts, some coffee / toffee. Light addition of hops that adds for an original mouthfeel coupled with some dark fruits. Finish has a thin touch of caramel that ends smooth with bits of cocoa powder and hops..

Bottle. Pours black with a large, creamy, brown head, mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, toffee, nutty), average hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (leather, broth) with notes of dates, plums, and charcoal. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
