Commercial Description:
A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

12 oz bottle pours dark brown with ruby at the edges. Aroma is dominated by hops withsome roasty malts hiding in there as well. This is a porter for hopheads. Lots of hop bitterness in the flavor. Chocolate, coffee flavors in there as well. Very different

Inky black with a bit of tan head. Aroma is fantastically hoppy, with notes of melon and rubbing alcohol. Taste is roasty with some hop bite, and a bit of alcohol. Taste is a tiny bit watery, but not bad at all.

Tap... Poured black with amber highlights and a thin beige head. Aroma of chocolate with faint malt. Palate was nice with a tingle and sizzle on the tongue but overall pretty foamy. The smoked malt flavors were leafy and herbal, and other flavors of chocolate and sweet caramel, but those were very subdued. Finished with coffee and hops.

Pours a very dark black color with a milk-chocolate brown head. Aroma is of roasted chocolate malt and hops. Flavor was hoppier than I expected, but it’s a great porter still... chocolate, caramel malt. 12 oz. bottle.

Nice pine/citrus hop nose. Pours a dark black with ruby highlights, and a thin dusting of tan head. A touch of sweetness starts off this beer, with a big hit of hops to lead to a nice long bitter finish. A bit thin in the mouthfeel, but overall, a tasty beer. More in line with a Pale Ale then a Porter in my opinion.

Dark brown with decent head. not enough malt character. This porter is overwhelmed by hops. I had to mix one with a London Fullers Porter to level out the hops.

RIch garnet color, nice caramel head. Roasty aroma, coffee and some alcohol. I don’t pick up any dry hops in the aroma, but this sample isn’t really brand new. Chocolatey, complex malty flavor, very chew. Lightly sour with a bit of a hoppy kick; nice sweetness/bitterness balance, though. Nice example.

I like porters, but I like porters the way they are. So when it comes to a brewery that think everything is better with a large does of hops, that irritates me. This would be a great porter, it aspires to be. Aside from the dry hopping, rich and creamy and very smooth on the palate, chocolate highlights, with a nice amount of roastiness, but finishes slightly weak and tame.
