Nice lacing on the glass. Perdominatly hoppy aroma, with hints of chocolate. Kind of a fruity hop smell. A thin body, and very hoppy for a porter, but it isnt bad. You can still taste some chocolate in the background, ending is bitter. Pretty good, like all the Avery’s ive had. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This is the hoppiest smelling porter I think I’ve ever come across. But it doesn’t actually seem weird...the hops blend well with the chocolate and espresso notes that form the base. The hops in the nose are quite citrusy. Hops are right there in the flavour as well, along with a chocolate nuttiness that blends very well. It’s really hoppy, but it’s not unbalanced. Coffee and caramel in the finish, which is mildly bitter. Interesting and unique example of the style. Very good. scottmc (167), Lakewood, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Tap at the brewery. A smooth porter with a great amount of hops, almost similar to an IPA in the hop content. Not too sweet. A thin body, easy to fall in love with. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 24, 2007 Pours a nice dark brown color with bits of head at the edges of the glass. Light aromas of roast and chocolate, a little coffee. Light bodied. Pronounced smooth roast character throughout, balanced by a bit of a hop finish. Pretty tasty brew and one of those regular Averys that I often pass by in the store. I’ll definitely try and put this in the rotation. SmellGood (319), Memphis, Tennessee, USA
