Dark dark brown, good color. Aroma is kinda light, nothing really eminating from the glass, just a slight roasted toffee type smell. The taste is fizzy and a bit tart. I’m used to Porters being more full flavored than this. I feels a tad sharp on the tongue. I like my porters on the creamy side, this is thin. I bought a 6er, certainly I will finish it, but I won’t be buying again as there are too many good beers to be had. thewolf (5808), Kolding, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2007 Bottle. 33 cl. Pours almost black with only slight red edges. Small off white head that stays. Aroma is quite hoppy on a base of roasted and chocolate maltyness. Dry at first, then you feel quite a lot of baby bubbles. The dryness comtinues, gaining more flowery bitterness, chocolate and a touch of roasted. bobaidan (366), Farmington, Connecticut, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Chocolate taste a bit too strong for my taste, and the dry hopped finish took me off guard. I have not been the biggest fan of Avery, but I need to try this again. PilsnerPeter (2653), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2007 12oz Bottle. Thin looking pour. Deep brown color, with blood red hue in the light and a diminishing tan head. This is a nicely aromatic Porter. Cocoa beans and hops mesh beautifully. Some sweeter chocolate syrup notes as well. The flavor initially is full of roasty, dark chocolate, with bittering resins apparent. There’s also burnt rasins and mild cocoa, which are followed by mocha notes. The hops give a nice underlying speariment character, which gives this beer a "mint chocolate" profile. The finish leans toward dark, mildly bitter coffee. A solid, ungeneric, hoppy Porter.
