Not much head, but great thick lace. The aroma is a hefty pine hops, over a roasted coffee malt. Bitter on both ends baby. The heavy, butter aromas work well together. The taste is bitter, burnt coffee. Gives a bite on the way down. The hops come in as a second wave to block the burnt and add some woody sweetness. Ashy bonfire embers. Smoky and woody together. The feel is thick and gritty. Has a burn at the swallow. One of the hoppier porters I’ve ever had. Damn nice. fromred2green (170), , Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottle Pours a nice deep black with a light brown head. The head is lasting and creamy. Produces decent lacing. Has a nice aroma of coffee, roasted malts, and floral hops. Has a good carbonation. The mouthfeel is good with a sharp kick. Flavor is as expected. Good chocolate and coffee, then hit with decent hops. This is a tasty beer. Has a good balance. Has a thickier than water texture. A pretty decent finish with a nice aftertaste. I like hops and porters so this is a natural for me . finol (519), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Bought a 12 oz bottle at Huckleberries in Spokane. Pours very dark brown with a long lasting tannish head. The hop aftertaste overpowered everything else here for me. I wouldn’t buy this one again.... It does improve as it warms. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA
