| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 10, 2006 The aroma is average for a porter with the requisite burnt malt, chocolate, and caramel. The appearance is dark brown with a slight red hue. The head is sort of smallish, maybe two fingers. The flavor is heavy with the burnt malt taste followed by an astringent hopping. There is some chocolate and caramel in there but not enough to save it. The palate is nice and smooth. The flavors in this one don’t seem to come together, they are layered with the astringent bitterness leaving the last impression. alexanderj (2279), Chino Hills, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark mahogany black with medium tan head. The aroma is raisin, wood, and earthy hops. The flavor has quite a bit of caramel, along with the same earthy hops as the aroma. Wood and chocolate come out at first, and the finish gets somewhat ashy. I like this. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
