Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 15, 2006 A very dark brown beer with a slight red shine under a fluffy brown head. The aroma is lovely both hoppy and roasted malty, the hops giving it notes of citrus, and the roasted malt giving it notes of coffee and a bit of chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong roasted notes, but in a very smooth way, opposite many porters more dry roastiness. The flavor also contains notes of good coffe and chocolate, as well as a bit of citrusy from the hops. The end is very smooth but also OK bitter, with the citrus and chocolate lingering for a long time. The body is quite light (especially considering the alcohol content), but in the aftertaste the alcohol bites slightly in the tongue and cheeks. Nice one. omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 23, 2002 Black coloured. Veryhop aromatic, slighlty roasty. Smooth mouthfeel, bitter finish. Really good! Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 20, 2006 (Bottle 65 cl) Pours a clear, dark mahogany with a beige head. Roasted, yet fruity nose. Medium body with plenty of hard roasted malt, but never burned. Lightly hoppy finish on a sweet background. Lovely. 200506 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2003 Dark burgundy colour. Robust aroma is hoppy, with chocolate and toast. I spend a lot of time sniffing this with my pen on the table, just because I wanted to enjoy it rather than analyze it. Toasty, nutty, complex porter with solid bitterness. Delicious. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 9, 2008 12 fl oz bottle at Ølbaren. Pours dark brown with dense chocolate brown head. Roasted malt aroma, hints of choolate and a vague chalk note. Flavour is roasted malt, smooth chocolate and a very light acidity. Ends roasted malty and slight acidic. Lovely flavourful and yet uncomplicated.
