This is quite a nice porter, with some good roastiness and a nice amount of toffee/caramel character in addition to more hops than I’ve experienced previously in beers of this style.
Appearance was quite dark and opaque with only a little whisp of tan head. Aroma was a bit hoppy with a good amount of caramel and some pleasant earthiness. Flavor was more caramel-y with evident hops. Mouthfeel was good but unexceptional.
I’d recommend this porter. I had mine on-tap at Roman’s Pub in Milwaukee.

Jul 17, 2008 black pour with a thin khaki head. huge notes of chocolate with malts in the background. good thickness with a nice chocolate flavor that finishes smooth with a roasted coffee note.

Jul 13, 2008 the beer pours a deep black with a thin head. i get roasted malts and coco of the nose. the taste is a slightly swet coco with coffee and roasted malt notes the finish is clean and short

Jul 12, 2008 Very dark pour, almost black with an off white head. Sweet aroma of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Very creamy, rich taste with hints of nuts.

does not count  Jul 11, 2008 very strong aroma and taste. i didn’t care for the sort of sweet finish. but great overall because it is very, very thick.

Jul 11, 2008 Sweet chocolate aroma with a slight fruitiness. Dark brown color, lets a small amount of light through. Starts off with a mild chocolate with a thick palate. Light nutty taste in the finish.
