| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Subtle aromas of the malt - with a sweetness peaking through. Not fruity, not spicy. Pours a deep red-amber, fluffy head. There isn’t one flavor that overpowers another. Mostly malty, slightly bitter (hoppy) at the finish but leave a tingly feel on the tip of the tongue from the carbonation. Full bodied and very drinkable - an English style ale with a hint of a Belgian. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA

A nice combination of sweet and smoked malt flavors with a slight bitterness. This has a slight Belgian flair to it. Extremely drinkable. penguinjive7 (67), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a nice black/extremely dark mahogany with two fingers of head. Excellent lacing for quite a while.
Smells actually rather fruity with a bit of dark roasted coffee cutting through.
Tastes of a dark fruity almost prune-like flavor with a very hoppy finish. Hoppy and spicier than I expected from a winter warmer. Many complex flavors, too much for my novice taste buds to pick up.
Overall an excellent brew, and was a great way to warm up after coming inside in an Ithaca blizzard. Warms me right up. Probably could be a little less hoppy, but that’s just my taste.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Bottle as shown. Pours a dark amber color with a small frothy off white head. The aroma is a sweet hop and nuts. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet fruit, apple with a dry finish. Very drinkable and hides the alcohol well. A very good English Strong Ale from Avery. nbutler11 (760), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Pours the color of maple syrup from the bottle with a silky reddish/tan head. Brimming with the aroma of blueberries, raspberries, molasses, and hops. Starts out malty, with a medium body, but builds into a piney alcohol finish that almost sets your mouth on fire. Very impressive. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA

Pours a dark amber with a nice head that recedes quickly. It smells of Christmas spices and caramel. On first taste it is also quick spicy. The spices never quick leave your lips or palate. It is also quite easy to pick up both the aroma and flavor of nuts and toffee. As I said the spice sticks on your palate for a nice warming feel. A very good seasonal. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2008 A deep, dark, red/orange with a dense, long lasting foam. Minerally/metallic aroma with no hops and low malt. A very viscous and full bodied mouthfeel. The flavor is very malty with a subdued hop presence. A typical winter warmer and not a whole lot of personality
