Pours a clear deep mahogany color with a nice 2 finger chunky beige head. Nose is caramel, and at first, a slight sour vegetable smell (like V8 juice – I know, that’s crazy talk!) Nose opens to malt as it warms. Palate is caramel, nuts, and malt. Medium mouth feel with great lacing. I liked this more than I thought I would – not too bad. travita (1941), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Bottle. Huge thick creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a pale nut-brown color. Good display of lacework. Aroma of toasted malt, bread, caramel, fruit, dried fruit, grain and mild hoppy feel. Over the palate came floral and light pin notes with a hint of alcoholic sharpness. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Light to moderated bitter flavor with light counter sweetness. Dry and bitter hoppy finish. beerbiere (101), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Light brown, small compact head with some laces, carbonation is rather low. Sugar-candy, vanilla, rhum soaked fruit cake, caramel, ruby-red grapefruit and a bit spicy (nutmeg?). Well balanced, starts candy sweet then the hops deploy their presence with grace and elegance; never is it too sweet nor too bitter, yet the bitterness lasts for quite a long time. The body is round enough to be satisfying but the beer never feels heavy. Surprisingly refreshing, still credible as a digestive. Very enjoyable! Pastor (509), Maine, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Bottle poured into a chalice produced fingers of tan head that goes to a sparse lace on top of a dark mahogany
Aromas of malts, candy sugar and spices filled my nose
This beer is rather hot (alcohol) and bitter which is a surprise to me because of its nose
The mouthfeel is not as rich as I would like on this one but it is smooth on the palette
It’s an ok warmer but one at a time is enough
