Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

Bottle. Huge thick creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a pale nut-brown color. Good display of lacework. Aroma of toasted malt, bread, caramel, fruit, dried fruit, grain and mild hoppy feel. Over the palate came floral and light pin notes with a hint of alcoholic sharpness. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Light to moderated bitter flavor with light counter sweetness. Dry and bitter hoppy finish.

Light brown, small compact head with some laces, carbonation is rather low. Sugar-candy, vanilla, rhum soaked fruit cake, caramel, ruby-red grapefruit and a bit spicy (nutmeg?). Well balanced, starts candy sweet then the hops deploy their presence with grace and elegance; never is it too sweet nor too bitter, yet the bitterness lasts for quite a long time. The body is round enough to be satisfying but the beer never feels heavy. Surprisingly refreshing, still credible as a digestive. Very enjoyable!

Bottle poured into a chalice produced fingers of tan head that goes to a sparse lace on top of a dark mahogany Aromas of malts, candy sugar and spices filled my nose This beer is rather hot (alcohol) and bitter which is a surprise to me because of its nose The mouthfeel is not as rich as I would like on this one but it is smooth on the palette It’s an ok warmer but one at a time is enough

Handsomely dark pour with slight beige head. No winter spices, but something still wintery about it. I feel like there’s still a faint hint of coriander, but maybe it’s just phantom because I expect it to be there. This is a favorite winter brew for me. Toasty, malty, sweet, slightly smoky aroma... almost porter-like on the nose. Nice and malty taste with caramel and toffee notes, with still enough hops to stay balanced. Gets better as it warms up slightly. Yum.

Pours tall head, which collapses normally. Not too fast. Not too slow. Seems very carbonated. Dark brown, with hints of dark cherry color when held up to a light source. Wonderful aroma. Again, reminds me of cherries though perhaps that is what they’re calling the hint of hazelnuts. More than a hint to me. VERY nice flavor. Not overly hoppy and on the malty side for sure. Definately taste the hazelnut flavor they talk about. Not cloyingly sweet. Lightly roasted malts hang around on the pallate. Hides the 8% alc. well in its body, though as the beer warms up it does come out a little more pronounced. Overall, I’d definately put this on the buy again list. Wish I’d had this earlier in the season so I could’ve known to buy a whole six-pack!

Bottle. Clear dark copper/brown. Thick tan head, leaving striped lacing. Sweet and rich malty aroma, somewhere between caramel and molasses. Sweet but not cloying dark malt flavors, slightly roasty/toasty coffee/chocolate with a bit of a plummy dried fruit tang in the background. Some darkly toasted nut bitteness in the finish. Alcohol clandestine. Nice straightforward X-mas ale which is not unnecessarily gussied up with the traditional spices.

pleasant dark red coloring with a little lacing on the glass. Nutty, malty and spicy taste with a rounded, almost oily mouth feel. A nice winter beer. Would go good with beef tips or a nutty cheese, or maybe nuts.
