| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 3, 2007 12 oz bottle purchased at Spirits RB. Pours a deep dark cocoa brown with some burgundy hues on the edges and a small off white head. Aroma of cocoa powder, cola, tea and cooked vegtables. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a slight milky feel. Flavor of chocolate and cooked vegtables, not a good combination. I found this beer to be a huge let down from one of my favorite brewers. Bah hum bug. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Tastes of spice, caramel, raisins, boozy, some tea. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Finish yields some alcohol that interferes with an otherwise enjoyable experience. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Clear, dark, coppery brown producing a substantial sand colored head with excellent durability and a fine, sticky, lace. Aromas of roasted malts, burnt caramel, pine, and spice. Medium body and light carbonations with some sharpness, but a clean palate, nicely dry. Spicy, peppery bitterness is up front over a background of burnt sugar. Not an overly sweet winter seasonal like many, this has a nice bite to it. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2007 Bottle. This one is an 06. Pours a deep mahogany. Aroma is of roasty malts. Flavor comes in very malty and roasty with some caramel and toffee like sugar and a hint of nut. Pretty heavy on the alcohol in flavor and feel. Creamy and a little syrupy but mouthfeel isn’t bad. Not a bad seasonal at all. norsedoc (162), USA

Flavor of roasted nuts(filberts?), spice, and prune. Very balanced and not overly spiced like many winter ales. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Watery thin brown color. Strange smell of funky malt. Gross taste and mouthfeel. Metallic and has a strong alcohol flavor. It has a sweet alcohol aftertaste that somewhat stings the tongue. Difficult to swallow this weak bodied, strong alcohol flavored brew. cheapdark (2026), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Aroma hints are somewhat od and fruity, like old fashioned candy. Dark color, like cola or dark cream soda. Strong big ale flavors. Alky and offensive. Be prepared to jubilate after a few of these. In your face annoyng manners. Cannot get thru the flavors to check out the mild carbonation. Too strong for my lager lovin girlie taste buds. Mildl~medium lingering bitter malt intimidating finish. Sorry, I’m not good enough for this brew, save it for the imlerialistics.
