Dark color, like cola or dark cream soda. Strong big ale flavors. Alky and offensive. Be prepared to jubilate after a few of these. In your face annoyng manners. Cannot get thru the flavors to check out the mild carbonation. Too strong for my lager lovin girlie taste buds. Mildl~medium lingering bitter malt intimidating finish. Sorry, I’m not good enough for this brew, save it for the imlerialistics. mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA

A very nice beer to drink on a cold night. Had a slight cold so could not fully apprciate. LinusStick (1855), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2007 This was a very good ESA compared to probably every other one I’ve had lately. I associate this style with the gold imperial pilsener style beers and this was not that. Pour was a nice medium brown/red with a 1 finger white head. Aroma of roasted malt with little chocolate undertones. Taste was nice and rich. Dark and caramel malt with good carbonation. Nutty and almost toffee flavor in the aftertaste. A good beer, and one of the best (if not the best) ESA I’ve had. Makes me realize there is more to this style than Santa’s bad helpers. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2007 This dark ruby colored brew has a coffee / mocha flavor with a weird tasting finish which is partly due to the alcohol, which isn’t hidden real well in this beer. I like its warming qualities which a winter beer should have, however I don’t like the finish which is....VERY STRANGE. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Clear dark ruby colored pour. Smell is slightly chocolately malt but not a rich roasty chocolate smell. Taste is the same, except with an unpleasant alcohol taste to finish. No need for this to taste as alcoholic as it does, and it really detracts from the decent flavor. Still, overall it’s thin, boring and the alcohol doesn’t fit well. Unimpressed. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2007 The smell is floral and toasted malt. The color is light copper hue. The taste is full body malty hoppy beer. With a clean and easy finish. Enjoyed this spicy christmas ale. jujubeast6000 (799), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 19, 2007 (bottle): Pours a reddish-brown color, fizzy. Huge tan head, okay lacing, foamy. Not too strong an aroma. Some grapefruit & hops, but very weak. Malt, coffee flavor, watery, smoky. Some spices. English alcoholy taste. Coffee aftertaste, almost porter-like.
