A good ale from Avery (one of my favorite breweries)... a little disappointed in this one... I don’t know what I was expecting really but was very surprised at what I tasted.... a ton of plums. They could call this plum ale because the plum aroma and taste took over this beer - but it was good, just very different. Other aromas and flavors of malts shined through. It was a bit weak on the palate and in the finish. Would not buy again, but glad I had one. Crafty07 (393), Florence, Kentucky, USA

The right combination of different malts. Well made strong ale that doesn’t remind the taste buds that it’s 8%. Well done. a10555 (125), West Chester, Ohio, USA

A deep amber color and a darker lacy head. It has a very nutty, alcohol flavor that makes you want to move on to the next bottle. Happy Holidays.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Deep red/brown pour. Very tasty, enjoyable rich maltyness balance well with some hops. Want to try cellaring this and see how it tastes in a couple of years. malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Malty, earthy, winey, sugary aroma. Fruity sugary winey flavor with mild bitterness. Medium-full body and medium carb. Somewhat like a mild english barleywine. Pretty good. jsh12bama (345), Alabama, USA
