| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Oct 22, 2007 12-oz. Black with a thin, moussy and dense tan head and plenty of lace. Smells like mold, sweat, must. Very much like a basket of dirty gym clothes. With a pile of soggy burnt nuts in the middle of it. Big body, high side of medium for sure, grainy and well carbonated. Roast and toast and char hit you up front, followed by ash and chalk and sour milk. Not a whole lot of fun to drink. brstp (201), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Bottle from City Beer Store in SF. Great dark red mahogany color, poured aggressively but failed to get much head. Very ’clean’ aroma with chocolate malt, nuts. Taste of grape, cherry, caramel malt, a veritable bouquet of carbonation. Thinnish on the front but slightly chewy at the finish. I am going to stock up on this!! andyhite (293), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Poured from a 12oz bottle, and served in an English pint glass. This brew poured a dark ruby/brown with a thick, foamy, tan head that lasted. Some light lacing was left behind. The aroma included very rich caramel malts, toffee, light pine, and also some faint coffee notes. The flavor was made up of hazelnuts, caramel, toffee, chocolate, along with a light underlying citrus hop note. The mouthfeel was slightly creamy and medium to full-bodied with a strong dose of carbonation. This was a very enjoyable brew. Give it a shot if your a fan of the malts.
