Commercial Description:
Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

Nice dark cherry red with a perfect medium head. Light sweet aroma of caramel/maple. A little juniper in the aroma and taste. Taste starts with moderate sweetness and finishes with spicy hops.

Another gift from the bartender at Barcade… I love this place. Dark amber beer with a thick off-white head. Aroma is a bit salty and herbal with intense oaky character throughout. Herbal dill-like character that reminds me of the barrel-aged Leviathan. Flavour shows saltiness and sweet caramelly malt. Strong alcoholic flavour and a bit of tartness on the back. A bit of vanilla and caramel along with some herbal hoppiness. Strong and sweet but not terribly malty. Not really a fan.

a very nice strong beer. Great for the cold winter months. Rich and malty and smooth as silk this is a creamy, thick beer. Sweet but not overpowering so. It drinks more like a porter than a English ale

(Bottled) Dark nutty brown with a smallish, tight head. Toffee-caramely-malty aroma of berries, blackcurrant leaves and birch. Smooth, lightly roasty, very caramely-malty and fruity flavor with flowery hops. Slicky, medium to full-bodied, warming palate with slightly foamy carbonation and well-hidden alcohol. A nice, sweetish and warming winter brew with a strong scotch/old ale feel.

Pours a deep brown with reddish hues and anice light tan head. The aroma is malty with some dark fruit and spice. Flaovr is rich with spice, dark fruit, roasted malt, and nuts, with a nice snappy hoppy bitterness.

Bottled from Whole Foods Market. Pours a dark ruby color. Sweet woody aroma. Some hops are noticable, but just a touch. Some vinousness and bourbon. Dark malty character. Lots of wood and dark fruit. Hoppy bitter finish. Well balanced brew. The 8% is very well hidden.

Malty aroma with a slight smokey scent. The apperance is dark brown with red highlights. Palate is extremely full. Very complex flavor. Wood, malt, smoke--lots of flavor. Some hops come out as it warms. Very nice.

Pours to a garnet shade with a creamy head, with a nose of maple, caramel, different woods, and alcohol. Rich flavors of raisins, bourbon, and fruitcake, finishing with a bit of burn reminiscent of Robitussin. Flavorful, but it began to strike me as strangely overcomplicated, as if someone poured a bit of cough medicine on chocolate cake. Might even be a bit young.
