Commercial Description:
Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

Pours a dark red/brown with a one-finger head that stuck around for a while. Aroma of fruit and malt. Strong malt flavor with a semi-dry, caramel finish. Nice creamy palate. Overall one of my favorite seasonals. Excellent winter brew!

12oz from Whole Foods, Durham. Funny, but there was a surprising amount of carbonation on the pour and I somehow flashed on root beer. Only in the look, of course, as the caramelly, malty nose immediately jars your senses and prepares you for a solid, flavorful winter warmer. I actually prefer it when these brews have a bit more bite, either from spices or from hops, and found this one just a bit too slick and sweet to rank highly. But it’s still enjoyable and would not turn it away.

Very nice beer. Had a vertical tasting of this beer at the 15th anniversary. Hay impressed by those: the 2007 version, 2006 and 2004 version on bottle. I loved it

Amber-brown in colour, creamy and rich beige coloured head, excellent lacing. The aroma is malty, chalky, some chocolate, plums, high sweetness. The aroma is malty, rich, sweet with lots of fruit and some chocolate. Sweet but still some bitterness in the mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes sweet, fruity and malty.

This dries out at the end but it still lacks a bit of what the Fullers Vintage Ales bring.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

Pours a brilliant mahogany with a creamy ecru head. Aroma of brazil nuts, light spice, and black tea. Nice flavor; rich but light enough to be quite drinkable. Very nice.

Like Fullers 1845, this is a seasonal. But like that beer, it is not a traditional spiced holiday ale. It is a well brewed strong ale. Aromas and flavors of toffee, brown sugar, and roasted malts.
