Cloudy orangish brown pour viz car and small white head. Full well coated mouth that drys out your tounge and lingers. Starts w/ some sweet belgian tastes then is overwhelmed by dry wood the cab barrel notes then finishes lightly tart on the tongue. Some sweet breads sneek in. An odd mix of flavors but a nice drink. Aroma is lightly alcoholic forward wood notes definate wine qualities some light sour funk later. Good stuff.

Sample at tasting room during GABF 2009. Pours a hazy caramel color with off white head. Aroma is ripe fresh fruit, slight sour and funk, light barrel, light wood. Flavor is sour, red wine, woody, hints of barrel, light malt, caramel. Medium body with a crisp finish.

Avery tasting room 2009 GABF. Dark copper clear. Taste is sweet, sticky, very alcoholic-bitter and tart. Wine is more subdued than the Port Alter Boy. Nice beer.

Tap at Avery, GABF week ’09.
Pours deep, rich cedary amber with a nose of red wine oak and cedar fruit. Flavor is woodsy and winey cherry with a sublte leathery finish. Tingly on the tongue. Similar to Port Altar Boy but more red wine presence.

Draft at Avery the gabf week 2009. Best beer of the day. Cab adds something to the brew that the port barrel didn’t. Excellent sipping brew.

On tap @ Avery. Nose is really, really inviting - Brett, some leather and bread and a nice touch of woddy grapes and slight bitterness. Could smell it for a long time. Taste is highly carbonated (unexpected) with the sour brett horseblanket to start and more of the leather and wood. A nice acidic sweetness finishes with hints of vanilla and some fruitiness. Awesome elixir, this.

On tap at Avery poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of barnyard, brett funk, sour grapes, light oak and light spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of barnyard, brett funk, oak, grapes, light leather and light spice with a crisp lingering dry tart funky finish.
