Commercial Description:
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren't afraid to use plenty of rich roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you've been looking for in a beer.

12oz Bottle pours out a almost black topped with a light tan head. Aroma of coffee and a little smoke. Nice rost and a bitter kick as well. Pretty good stout. Thanks indiana_red

Bottle pours a deep black with a large full tan head. Some chocolate malts in the aroma as well as a little porter-like sourness and roatsted notes. Flavor is more burnt charred campfire. Some hop bitterness but not much of its flavor. Fairly thin bodied but for a DS its about right. Smokey bitter at the end and a modest carbonation. Dry stouts are not big on my list but this is a good one.

This begins my foray back into stouts from IPAs. Drank one; then I had a "session" of the remaining 5. [Note: This is NOT a SESSION brew, I do not care what anyone says or thinks.] Rich chocolate/nut aroma. Spotty sheen of tan head. Even a vigorus pour does not yield a lasting head. Very opaque black, transmitted color is a deep amber with ruby tints. Slick and slightly chalky/resinous palate. Superglue lacing. Stout up front, straight porter in middle and aftertaste. Each phase is plesant. Definitely NOT one-dimentional. Even my emitted noxious gas was plesant tasting. Soft conditioning, made me feel fuller than mouthfeel. Drinkable fast or slow, but if you start slamming you’ll soon go to sipping. Almost perfect, except for palate being a little chalky. If you like Guinness, step up to this stout tough guy!

12oz bottle-A dark black body with an off white head and an aroma of coffee, chocolate, and maybe some small vanilla. Taste of the same with a small amount of smokiness. Nice stout.

Had this beer on 10/23/1998. Color is a deep black with low carbonation and a light head. Aroma is rich with the scent of roasted malts, its almost a sweet smell. Taste is deep rich and roasted. it starts with rich and yet crisp body and right here you can already taste the roasted flavors coming though. It goes down easy as the flavors come to life in your mouth and throat. Finish is as full of flavor as a beer can get with rich roasted malt flavors and an even bitterness.

This is like an iced coffee with carbonation and alcohol added. Pour was an alomost black with a thin tan ring for a head. Aroma of mostly roasted malt but a little bit of coffee in there. Taste was huge coffee with roasted malt and a hint of caramel. Nice dry aftertaste with a little bitterness. Chalk another win up for Avery.

Bottle. Fluffy high and lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Lovely strong coffee aroma with a fair amount of hops. High hops bitterness in the flavor which is otherwise of coffee with a good deal of carbonation and a long bitteraftertaste. I would have guessed on a much higher alcohol percentage.

From the bottle. Very deep, dark brown pour with a half-finger head that lingers on top. Can’t place the aroma, but very pleasing. Definitely a rich, dark, malty aftertaste reminiscent of coffee. Very pleasant to drink; solid mouthfeel. Almost sweet at the beginning & not overly bitter at the end. Very drinkable.
