The aroma is strong coffee, while the flavor is more of chocolate. I liked this alot, and the price is right. Cheers! MereLikesBeer (154), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2009 I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617 today. Only my second Avery product. As I am not the biggest stout fan to begin with, I don’t know that that was a good idea. Myself I like a sweeter stout, but this was ok for an average stout. It is very well balanced and sits well with my palate. Overall the taste and aroma don’t exactly translate. It smells a lot like a dark coffee, very roasty and a bit sweet, however it tasted more of chocolate - which I thought was a bit different. Generally speaking it’s a pretty decent stout again. I would consider it for purchase again :) mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Puts a dark brown, not quite black. Notucj of a head, but nice lacing. Aroma is surprisingly grainy - oaty and sweet molasses. Tastes just as grainy as it smells, nice sweetness balanced by a hearty roastiness. Yum! Slightly thin body with more carb than it needs, bit overall, a nice stout, a definite cut above the rest. yobdoog (1447), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Pours black with a one finger fluffy brown head. aroma is coffee, hops and a little bitter dark chocolate. has a medium body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma. has an oily and creamy mouthfeel with a bite from the hops on the tongue. also has a dry hop aftertaste- not bad. craftycarl21 (558), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is subtle and straightforward- dry roast, coffee, and a touch of cream. Flavor is nic with a good creamy and roasty quality. Really quite a nice beer with a palate that lends itself to a drinkable stout. alagnak (356), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Nice roasty smell, a little cafe au lait kind of smell to it. Really pleasant coffee flavor with a little dark chocolate and a pleasant hop bite. Good carbonation spreads the falvors out a bit. Really solid stout and perfect on a late spring mountain evening. oteyj (766), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Black pour with a smallish, slightly beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is predominantly roasted malt, cream, coffee and hints of chocolate. Palate is thick but not overly robust. Decent considering the style, but not extravagant or extreme by any means. An enjoyable sipper, or perhaps even session stout.
