Commercial Description:
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren't afraid to use plenty of rich roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you've been looking for in a beer.

Pours a dark brown with a medium head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, caramel, figs and slight hops. A medium sweet flavor with coffee, chocolate and a nice robust bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. An all-around great stout.

It poured a pitch black liquid with a small light brown foam. Smell and taste of chocolate, coffee and soy sauce. Smooth mouthfeel, thick body and low bitterness.

from the bottle on 9/14/09. mahogany brown shade of black with a soft tan head which leaves some stained glass-like lacing on the glass as it retreats. smells a little ashy and tart from high roast along with notes of caramel, toasted nuts, coffee and cream. the palate is nice and dry. huge coffee flavor... almost like it was pumped out as coffee syrup. also, roasted grain, chocolate, nuts, ash, some florals and hoppy dryness with a lightly tart finish. ashy coffee lingers in the aftertaste... keeps me coming back. the body is medium with a creamy soft texture yet it is crisp and dry enough to make it easily sessionable. nicely done. 7/4/7/4/16/3.8

Poured dark, thick with lasting head. Nose full of chocolate and malt with a hint of hops, and tasted exactly as such. A little weak as far as stouts go, but overall a good effort and a very drinkable stout!

I must be a sucker for a great stout. My ratings for this style tend to lean on the high side of the average and this stout is no exception. Fantastic aroma is a great preview for the bold, but well-balanced chocolatey flavor. Really like the roasted and coffee-like flavors.

Draught from Avery Taproom. Thick black with thin tan head. A lot less coffee than OUT OF SIGHT by Avery. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with light fruitiness and heavy hops for stout. Flavor is dark chocolate with still very coffee ending. Also burnt roasted with initial sweetness that is light and alcoholic. Light citrus bite at end.
