mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Oct 29, 2009 (Bottled) Poured golded and lightly hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma was of hops, fruitiness and honey. Palate was medium bodied and a little bit dry with medium carbonation. Fruitiness, honey, hops, bitterness, grass and little bit of teabag could be found from the taste. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. RealPoser (23), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 28, 2009 Pours pale gold with thick, creamy white head and slight haze. Decent lacing. Aroma is candied apples, fresh baked banana bread & all spice. Flavor is honey, apricots, bubble gum and warm alcohol. Crisp warm finish with moderate carbonation. Not my bag, but a solid strong Belgian. corby112 (677), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2009 Pours a hazy golden orange color with a thin off-white head that quickly fades into a thin ring. Not much in the way of lacing.
Estery golden fruit aroma with hints of grape, apple and pear with some crisp floral hop notes and alcohol.
Crisp spicy medium body with a lot of estery light fruit notes, floral hops, slightly creamy body, subtle hops and alcohol warmth. Smooth, quaffable and pretty drinkable. Hints of peppery spice, crisp citrus and light fruit notes. I’m picking up estery apple and pear with some orange peel, subtle hop bitterness and alcohol.
Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Oct 20, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, deeper gold colored body with a finger-width, white, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is quite nice. Flowery hops with peaches, mangos, and apricots. A nice spicing accompanies the honey-banana malts and candies. Nutmeg and cinnamon as advertised. Flavor is similar with a rounded, spiced sweetness. Lots of cinnamon and nutmeg with a light, herbal bitterness. Medium sweet, perfume-like malts with a candy taste and some fruits, but not as distinct as the aroma. Some honey and a light wood comes in at the end with a big alcohol warmth. The spices dry this out in the finish and leave a light peachy sweet, spiced nutmeg and cinnamon aftertaste. Medium bodied and extremely soft with a light carbonation. Overall, a pretty enjoyable beer. Nice aroma and solid flavor. Could use a little less spice and alcohol warmth, but tasty nonetheless. Really nice feeling body too. topherh (889), Kearney, Missouri, USA Oct 20, 2009 Pours orange -golden with a thick white head. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, with some grassy hops, and sweet malt. Flavor is hot, grassy, fruity, with some belgian spice. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Poured orange with a creamy white head that left light lace. Floral aromas with fruit, grain, and light malts also found. Floral and fruity flavor. Medium body and sweet. Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Oct 3, 2009 cloudy orange, large smooth offwhite head.
yeasty and slightly fruity aroma. something that might resemble stable or leather, but is a bit sweeter. lots of aroma.
flavor is sweet, malty, sawdust, grassy, faint fruitiy sugary flavor, bitterness that is hoppy and sawdusty.
this one best before 1-9-2009 acc. to distributor, so it’s rather well cellared. if only avery had printed the production date i’d be wiser as to how old it is.
in three words. bitter, grass, sweet...
Hbuck72 (122), Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA Sep 20, 2009 pours a surprisingly pale golden color, with only a minimal amount of cloudiness, has a thick white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma surprised me as it has a strong citrus/grass aroma. Taste is very pleasant and tastes of lightly malted grains, with a citrus aftertaste. Well balanced and refreshing, just not what I was expecting.
