Easy drinking for a "big beer", lots of flavor with a fruity, malty and big spiciness. Some noticeable alcohol but big sweetness masks it well cellardoor (45), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

It had a vibrant white, tightly bubbled head and laced the glass nicely. Had typical belgian yeast aromas and a contrasting sharpness and softness from the strong malt background. Finished med-dry. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 20, 2008 22 fl oz bomber. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Spiced aroma, slight herbal and carboard-like. My wife immidiately said: wet socks :(. Flavour is clearly with notes of Belgian yeast but also undefineable spiced. Sweet and slight woody with a lingering fruity and liqourice and slight peppery note into the finish. Ends with a fruity hoppy note. Strange and without balance. I would once again prefer a Belgian style from Belgium and an American style from America. GriffinAvenue (396), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA

Very Victory golden Monkeyh like, though with less force and more watery. Ok. drfabulous (1225), Columbia, Missouri, USA

Salvation is the nice Belgian style that overshadows a good chunk of the market. BuckeyeSammy (455), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Flavor a little syrupy, slightly spicy, hoppy finish. This was a bit of a disappointment.. I have really enjoyed most of the other avery beers i have had. Bland flavor. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 7, 2008 I can’t believe this only rates an 89. I found it to be excellent. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a big, fat white head. Nice fruity, yeasty aroma. Rich flavor full of sweet fruitness with a dash of spice. Nice and full on the palate. A wonderful Belgian strong ... actually one of the few (outside of Unibroue) non-Belgian breweries to nail the style, in my opinion.
