microakes (94), Canada Dec 16, 2007 Flowery hop smell. The taste wasn’t any different. I felt like i was drinking a flower. Not my thing, really. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Dec 14, 2007 22 ox bomber. Pours dark gold with a small white head. Skunky, spicy, alcohol nose-a bit yeasty and hoppy. Body is medium with a nice malty thick mouth full of fruit and spice. A bit hot and not real subtle. NOTE: I had the dry-hopped version on tap at Avery during GABF-a completely different superb beer. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Dec 12, 2007 THOUGHTS: It’s like Duvel x 3, but not in an entirely good way. A nice Belgian ale but nothing special.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a sparkling, dark golden with a small, white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma was lightly hoppy with candy sugar fruit and spice. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, while the finish was heavily sweet and lighlty bitter with a short to average duraion. The flavor was cndy sweetness with just enough hops in the finish to not be cloying. It was also quite yeasty with some spice. The medium body was syrupy with fizzy carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Dec 11, 2007 22oz Bomber - Gravity Room - Olympia, WA
Aroma – Malty Belgian flavor. Had some great spices and a high alcohol smell.
Appearance – Dark brown color, Clear with a thin head.
Flavor – The Belgian yeast flavor starts off then it goes malty with some fruity.
Palate – Good Belgian flavors this was not my style of beer.
Overall – This was a Belgian ale. Had a strong aftertaste with some fruity essence. Liked the beer but it is not my style.
RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 10, 2007 Aroma is a sweet cider like scent. Color is a deep golden with good carbonation and almost no head, there is just a thin ring around the edge. Taste is thin and winy. Starting with a light/medium body that goes down crisp with a wine like sweetness come in then there is a sour twang that leads into a bold alcohol feel. A bitterness come out as the alcohol taste fades. There is something just not right about this brew, there is almost no Belgian yeast taste, but there is an odd sourness and the alcohol is to prevalent on the end. Its just not a good Belgian-Style Ale. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Dec 9, 2007 22oz bottle. Aroma has lots of sweet honey malt and dry, spicy yeast. Pours full, bright gold with a fizzy white head. Lots os surag and honey sweetness initially on the tongue. Dry and slightly spicy yeast. Some grassy hops and a hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Slightly sticky. More sweet than dry. Finishes with a lingering yeasty dryness. zethca (62), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 8, 2007 Bottle. Clear golden pour with solid white head. Aroma is fruity with some spice. Medium carbonation, otherwise smooth body. Flavor is fruity with some spice. Hints of alcohol but fairly smooth. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Dec 8, 2007 Been a while since I’ve had this one, and I recall it being imbalanced and trending towards cloying malt sweetness. Thankfully, this bottle is quite different and combines a very lively champagne fizz with the dry quality of a fine blond and the fruits of a tripel. Nicely hopped to boot and with a substantial body. A good one.
