SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 19, 2007 Clear gold. Small white top. Nose of light fruits, candi sugar, rich malt, lightly floral. Same flavors with some grainy malt. Full/medium body, balanced. Very drinkable. Solid. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 19, 2007 2006 Bomber. Beer is clear, medium golden-brown colored. Head is initially average-to-large, white, frothy. Mostly diminishes, some lacing on the snifter.

The aroma isn’t very Belgian, but it is strong. It’s malty with light notes of cookie, toasted grain; Moderate hop notes of herb, flowers, stinky bitter resin; Yeasty with a light note of dish rag, moderate dough; Light notes of spicy alch, peach/bubble gum, ground pepper.

The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately-to-heavily bitter, lightly acidic with a long, moderately sweet, lightly bitter, warm finish. Some huskiness in the retros.

The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. With this much alcohol I was hoping for something sexier in the mouth. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Feb 18, 2007 Hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and ripe, tropical fruits and fresh hops. Pretty much the Avery house character, which I love. Flavour is also more Avery than Belgian, but on the sweet (and peachy) side. michael-pollack (2601), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 11, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma is very complex. Notes of fruit, blueberry, bubblegum, peach, yeast, and nutmeg. Poured golden in color with a big, creamy, off-white/light yellow head that lasted throughout. Very good lacing. Clear and lightly sparkling. Flavor is heavily sweet and lightly sour but not bitter. Tastes heavily of nutmeg and cinnamon. Also hints of coriander and tart cherry. Medium to full body. Flat to soft carbonation. Finish is long and tart/sour. Finish almost makes you pucker your lips. Overall, interesting. I liked it better than I thought I might. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Feb 9, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Hazy gold with a restrained white head that settles quickly. Some yeast, light fruit, and spice in the aroma with a little toffee thrown in. Bright effervescence accompanies a medium body and astringent mouthfeel. Mild sweetness quickly fades, giving way to an light acidic sourness that ocntributes to a clean finish with the help of some gentle bitterness. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 2, 2007 Bottle. What a nice surpise from Avery considering that I’ve been disappointed from most of their beers. This one turned out to be fabulous! Poured a clear golden body, thin head but left a nice ring and lots of carbonation. Aroma is of mangoes, grapes, spices and yeast. Flavor was sweet but with a dry mouthfeel. Very happy with this one. greatbratzkie (7), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA does not count Jan 31, 2007 22 oz Bomber - Pours a nice golden / amber color with a medium, but quickly fading head. Wonderful fruity and floral aroma. Strong alcohol presence, but not overwelming. Overall, a quality Belgian Strong. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jan 31, 2007 My friend Rob and I got together on 1/30/2007 for a "Salvation" tasting that included Avery Salvation, Russian River Salvation, and Avery (/Russian River) Collaboration Not Litigation. We really wanted to try all three of these beers together so that we could compare. Needless to say, this was a really nice tasting that really helped redeem us from the sins of drinking bad beer during the less fortunate times in the past. Avery Salavation was the first beer tasted...
Avery Salvation pours a vibrant, clear, coppery golden orange color with a large creamy beige/ivory head. The aroma and flavor have a large candy sweetness with some citrus-like and peach/apricot? fruitiness. There is also a distinct, yet hard to describe tanginess/spiciness/bitterness in this beer that acts as its signature quality. The body of this beer is medium-light and is highly carbonated, yet has a soft and non-fizzy feeling on the palate. Overall this is a respectable American Belgian Strong Ale widely available and a reasonable price. However, I kind of wish that Avery wouldn’t uber-filter their beers to that they can condition in the bottle a little bit and develop some additional complexities...
22 oz bottle shared by Rob. Thanks Rob. I really appreciate it!
