zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 31, 2006 Nice amber color but very minimal head. Nice carbonation. Fairly hoppy and sweet. Nice flavorful aftertaste. A worthwhile beer. cyanescens (156), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 28, 2006 A strong beer. Very subtle fruity notes but nothing too big which I like. The alcohol and hoppiness makes this belgian ale a little different. Much smoother, not as carbonated makes it more drinkable for me. I like it. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Dec 24, 2006 Bottle. It was a Christmas gift thanks! Poured a golden color with a 1 finger white head. Has an aroma of bananas, cherry’s, also a hint of nutmeg. The taste is great can taste cherrys, nutmeg. This is a very good beer but I think it would be better aged. MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA Dec 24, 2006 Golden pour with sugary bubblegum aroma. Hints of spice (pepper, cinnamon) and citrus but primarily candy sweetness. The hops kick in towards the end. Good but think that if could be more balanced. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 23, 2006 22oz with the new "A" on label (probably a 1-3 months old). perhaps one of my favorite labels. Pours a semi hazy pale color with big head. aroma has some nice citrus and belgian yeast aroma. fizzy and over carbinated. flavor is sweet, citrus, very bananay, and crisp. leaves an alcohol burn. i admit this beer is refreshing at first, but the flavors became annoying half way through the bomber. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Dec 23, 2006 pours out of the bottle a dark yellow with a minimal white head. smells strongly yeasty and spicey. tastes of citrus hops, full and bitter yeast, spices, light florals and has a dry doughy finish. also some alcohol throughout. medium bodied. a nice example of a strong golden ale. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 19, 2006 Undated 22 oz bottle from Table and Vine in Northampton, MA (September 2006) quaffed at cellar temperature from a Duvel glass. Completely opaque dark amber-gold body (despite my witholding the yeast pour....somehow seems shaken up) with a smallish quick-diminishing white bubbly head and no lacing....fairly tart, somewhat cidery and quite yeasty aroma, bit of caramel but the overwhelming thick dusty yeast overawes everything....on the palate, initially quite sweet though tartness shows up almost immediately, somewhat buttery with an caramel-apple touch, sour orange-grapefruit emerging and engaging in a mystifying battle with their sweeter cousin that results in a fairly difficult to define or enjoy mishmash of sour, tart, sweet, syrupy flavors....syrupy peach-apricot takes over the fruit duties towards the finish, adding another layer of....what? Carbonation a bit too low, mouthfeel sticky and often cloying. Nope. RollinHard (748), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2006 Pours a clear gold color with a long lasting good sized head. Aroma hits you with a peculiarly strong grass. Beyond that though, there’s some honey, pear, and grapes, but the strong spicy grass (?) aroma is the most dominant. Taste starts slightly tangy, but then is immediately sweetened by honey, and some sort of sugary bread malt. There’s a spicy tingle to this beer as well. Intense bread flavors on the finish, and when I breath a bit, that grassy hop quality comes back. It’s also the last remaining characteristic of the finish and is quite pleasant. Mild, but present bitterness and the texture and thickness of the beer is good (medium), but it’s not creamy enough to me. A bit cloying and not enough yeast presence to be convincingly Belgian, but it’s a good beer on its own merits.
