nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 14, 2006 Poured a peachy, orange color with a thin whispy white head. More hop fragrance than I imagined, slightly piney but also contains grainy, yeasty and a sweet, candy aroma like bubblegum. Initial flavor is sweet and candy like, but the finish brings a strange flavor of medicine. I was disappointed in the flavor and the finish. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Nov 13, 2006 Updated: Nov 14, 2006Bottle. Theres always an feeling of excitement when trying a Avery beer, unfortunately the excitement is always very shortlived. This was a particularly sweet Belgian style. Gold/orange colour. Lots of sweet/sticky candy-ish flavours, citrus and lots of alcohol warmth. A cosmetic type flavour kept popping up on every sip, and it only aided in the sweetness being a little less bearable. Mouthfeel is very uniform, with only this sticky sweetness dominiating. Again, i have been left a little bit dissapointed with Avery. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Nov 6, 2006 Beer 41. A little cloudy, but pretty normal per the style. Spicy, but not really that complex, I could drink quite a bit of this. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Nov 2, 2006 Pale golden beer. Light Belgiany phenolics in the nose with some clove and peach. Flavour is very oaky with yeasty spice over light peach/apricot esters. Honeyish maltiness. Vanilla and oakiness with some soft resinousness in back. Well balanced and tasty. TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Nov 1, 2006 A very nice beer from a great brewery. A great example of a "lighter" but still BIG belgian. At 9% ABV this one can warm you up in a hurry. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2006 brewtopia 10/21/06. Orange in color. Aroma is fruit and spices, sweet malt. Taste is the same with a full palate. Good. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Oct 20, 2006 Beer pours deep orange/amber with thick white head. The aroma is very sweet, with some honey, some raisins, some yeast, and some alcohol. The flavor is very malty with some raisin flavors, toasted bread, and hops showing up in the middle. The beer finishes bittersweet from hops and full-bodied. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, but not syrupy. The alcohol is well disguised. talon1117 (612), Bellvue, Colorado, USA Oct 9, 2006 Pours, well for lack of better words, golden and clear with a decent, white, pillowy head with some lasting ablilty and nice lacing. Nose is pleasant, notes of orange peel (maybe citrus hops?), corriander, biscuits, yeast, peppery spicy undertones, and a light floral hop aroma. Flavor is great, fruity notes of pear and banana, bisuity and Belgian yeasty, and with great spicy notes including nutmeg and pepper. Bitterness is fairly low and the alcohol is well hidden. Palate is medium to light in body with carbonation being between lively and fizzy and the texture remarkably still being creamy. Finishes dry and slightly bitter after the sweetness fades. A surprisingly excellent Belgian beer from an American brewery. An excellent alternative to so many dark Belgian strongs out there, and quite refreshing to those who may not be a fan of the other types of Belgian beers.
