Aroma is spicy and fruity with some Belgium earthiness - there is also some peppery aspects. Farily forceful and rich for not being bottle conditioned. Medium / full body with lots of carbonation.Taste has crisp fruitiness with a spice bite and some metalicnes. There is some Belgium feel to it, but with this not being bottle conditioned it takes away from what it could be. Finish adds more spice and some hops. This is a good deal for the price tag, but it is obviously an interpretation - there is no mistaking this for a Belgium classic. zach8270 (2079), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is very sweet and fruity with hints of apricots, peaches, candy sugar, alcohol, some spices, and yeast. Flavor is very sweet at the front with a slight hint of spices underneath. The middle is fruity and sweet with some peaches and cinnamon. The finish is medium-bodied, spicy, and bitter. The bitterness lingers for a bit and the flavor dies away kind of quickly. Aroma of candi sugar is a bit overpowering and doesn’t allow for much else. Taste is very sweet with very little yeast or spices characteristics. Alcohol is pretty subdued but a bit too one-dimensional and boring in my own opinion. AskForJenny (632), Ontario, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Draft. Looked good on the pour, thick head over straw colored liquid. Pale ale structure with an overly sweet finish. Malty taste with a big blast of bitter hops. Didn’t really seem to be in balance. HogTownHarry (3982), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2006 Bottle (650ml). Poured clear amberish gold with a decent but diminishing white head. Spicy, yeasty, fruity sweet malt aroma, some alcohol, quite a bit of tart, almost sour fruit on warming (persimmon?). Taste is a real melange of fruit, spice, yeast, bitterness, alcohol - Lord, this is not balanced or blended, but it sure is fun. Average body, lively, herbal, sticky mouthfeel - leaves a bit of an apple core aftertaste - the alcohol sneaks up and packs a punch - short linger; my wife and I split the bomber and we were merry o yes! Another Avery beer that fills the room with the aroma, however, this one is a bit easy to take. Can distinctly taste the fruit and yeast but I also caught a hint of what I think is liquorish root. Lots of other flavors I can pick out after a while; apricot, honey, clove to name a few. Quite complex really and unlike others, I can taste the alcohol in this one. Not bad, would drink again but like The Reverend, has sugar in it. marcus (1850), Sacramento, California, USA

It is medium-bodied and slightly sweet, but leaves a bitter chalky taste on the tongue. Very nice. PBOYNY (316), Westchester, New York, USA
