5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jul 18, 2006 Bottle: Pale golden in color, moderate frothy off-white head, spotty lacing, very light carbonation. Sickly sweet nectar like aroma, very slight band-aid, otherwise dull spiced background. Slight floral, medicinal, and herbal/floral aspects as well. Rich malty start, fairly sweet, but a bit astringent as well. Much like a Belgian Golden, and perhaps a bit heavier. Fairly chewy, and certainly big bodied. A bit rough overall, with very slight alcohol on the exit. Tiz okay, but certainly doesnt seem that belgian to me.
Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 16, 2006 Goldena le with a thin white head. Light ginger and coriander in aroma, light alcohol, quite nice. In mouth, fresh hops, orange peels, coriander, bubble gum and alcohol warmth. Rich bodied, a pleasure. On tap at BCTC 2006. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2006 Thanks to maniac for supplying some of this. Aroma is very tea like, light malts show through in the ending. Nice orange-brown colored body with a light white head. Taste is outstanding, great spices and lovely honey, light fruits as well. Hops and malt are present but they don’t define the taste characteristics. Excellent ending, tea characteristics show up again with some light hop endings. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2006 Hazy dark orange color with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops and some faint tea. Sweet citrus hops flavor, some spice, and a caramel end. jimvy (131), O’Fallon, Missouri, USA Jun 30, 2006 Bomber. Pours a hazy light orange with a tight white head that last. Aroma is spicy phenols along with some sweet orange. Flavor is very much like the aroma....lots of spice, some sweetness, a little orange, and a warming of alcohol. Finishes a bit sweet. Overall, this is a very nice beer. radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 28, 2006 Bottle shared by <a
href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=5899 target=blank> mds, thanks Mike. Golden amber in colour, thin off white coloured head, some patching lace. The aroma was of citrus (mainly orange zest), apples, yeast, light alcohol. The flavour had some noticable caramel malt sweetness, light spice, citrusy, floral, some yeast, alcohol warmth. Soft bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a light sweetness, lingering. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 24, 2006 Updated: Jun 24, 2008On tap at Brewski’s in Fayetteville AR. Rich deep gold. Thin white head. Very Tripel tasting. Has a candy aroma. Candy apples in fact. This has a rich sweetness for such a surprising quick finish. Medicinal flavor is pronounced. Coats the tongue like melted butter. Tremendous UPDATE: Aged 5 years in the bomber bottle. Hazy orange gold. Thin white head. Tastes a lot like Bro. Davids, except it has a big hop finish instead of smoothness. Big esters, big bananas, some diacetyl. Overall, I’d say this did not age too well. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2006 The Salvation pours a dark golden color with an average head. The aroma is not my favorite--straw, very faint fruit, some coriander or other spice and a definite skunk aroma behind it all. The flavor suprised me after the aroma had dissapointed. The tastes were refreshing and light. Most of the flavors were of a light caramel malt with a hint of fruit. The aroma threw it off from time to time--but overall I enjoyed the brew. At this ABV, the alcohol is pretty much non-existent. The finish is dry, but a drink of this beer does refresh. I’ll be glad to have it again in the future."
