Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

On tap at Brewski’s in Fayetteville AR. Rich deep gold. Thin white head. Very Tripel tasting. Has a candy aroma. Candy apples in fact. This has a rich sweetness for such a surprising quick finish. Medicinal flavor is pronounced. Coats the tongue like melted butter. Tremendous UPDATE: Aged 5 years in the bomber bottle. Hazy orange gold. Thin white head. Tastes a lot like Bro. Davids, except it has a big hop finish instead of smoothness. Big esters, big bananas, some diacetyl. Overall, I’d say this did not age too well.

The Salvation pours a dark golden color with an average head. The aroma is not my favorite--straw, very faint fruit, some coriander or other spice and a definite skunk aroma behind it all. The flavor suprised me after the aroma had dissapointed. The tastes were refreshing and light. Most of the flavors were of a light caramel malt with a hint of fruit. The aroma threw it off from time to time--but overall I enjoyed the brew. At this ABV, the alcohol is pretty much non-existent. The finish is dry, but a drink of this beer does refresh. I’ll be glad to have it again in the future."

22 oz bottle. Clear light orange color with a foamy white head that laced the glass. Smells of banana, nutmeg, alcohol, and dried fruits. Sweet, vinous, and effervescent. Flavor follows the aroma with the addition of yeasty bread dough and a sprinkle of black pepper. Only detractor is a slight metallic note at the end.

Glazed fruit spiked with cloves. Would this taste good with some Virginia ham? The color even looks like a dried apricot. No head to speak of... and I smell a little dried grapes but not much there. A pleasing mix of tart and sweet while still having a touch of the dry. Mouth texture a little crinkly, like foil. A beer that tastes like its lable, a little garish yet still unique and complicated.

1 Pt. 6 oz. bottle Aroma: Sweet orange peel scent with only a hint of hops. Smelled somewhat like an orange popscicle. Appearance: Hazy orange, like Tang. Thin around the edges. Virtually no head to speak of which was disappointing. Flavor: Wheat and lots of spice overpowered by mushroomy, chalky, and dusty flavors. Palate: Dry somewhat metallic finish with some licorice Overall: I was tremendously disappointed with this beer as I was looking to Avery’s version of a Golden Belgian Ale. Perhaps the travel and the storage of this beer altered its flavors and it just did not age well in the bottle. I cannot imagine this being a popular choice if this is its regular flavor. Reading other reviews I have to believe it is not.

Bottled, 22 oz. poured orange/amber in color. Sweet, notes of hops and malt, a bit stringent. Yet, very nice.

22oz bottle: Pours a golden brown color. Very clear, fizzy. Nearly no head, white. Strong dry aroma, grapes, dark fruit, complex, alcohol. Smooth taste, flowery, leafy, slightly fizzy, dark fruit, taste of alcohol. Grapes, spices. Warming up helps, aging might make it better.

Pours a clear orange copper with a medium, creamy off-white head. Aroma of raisins, dust, sweet caramel malts, candied sugar and fruits. Taste is much the same with some spices, the dust and alcohol more apparent in the taste. Light, almost watery mouthfeel. Lingering bitterness. Pretty good.
