sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 2, 2006 22oz bottle. Clear orange-amber hue with a thin ring of white head. Spicy and caramel nose. Bready and citrus aroma. Mildly lively with a sweet caramel, alcohol flavor. Thick and cloying. Tingling effervescence. Long and smooth with a dry long bitter hop finish. Alcohol is rather apparent. Fruity and spicy notes. Almost peachy syrupy with a nutmeg, sweet bread flavor. Smooth and wonderful. CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Mar 21, 2006 I enjoyed this beer quite a bit. Pours a cloudy apple juice and has very little head. Aroma is very good...toasted lady fingers...spice, sweet malt and fruit...a bit of belgian yeast. Taste is actually fairly wheatish...must be the spice. Alcohol is totally balanced. Mouthfeel is very crisp and dry. JugOPunch (77), Nashua, New Hampshire, USA Mar 20, 2006 Updated: Mar 22, 200622oz bottle: Pours a cloudy dense golden orange. The aroma is citrus, mostly orange peel and peachy grapefruit with a little alcohol. This has a medium body with a creamy oily mouthfeel. The citrus is followed in the flavor with the orange and a little banana. It was quite tangy for a beer especially the deeper I got in the bottle. There was a definite alcohol tingle on the tongue that I could have done without. In the end, it was a little over the top for me but probably would have been better having aged about a year or so. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Mar 20, 2006 Hazy orange body with a moderate head. Aroma is spices, lighter fruits, pepper, light caramel. Flavor is the same, at first there was WAY too much alcohol but later it was more palatable. A solid offering, but I would have liked to see less alcohol and more of other flavors. HumbertHumbert (77), Denver, Colorado, USA Mar 10, 2006 Aroma filled the room upon opening and pouring. Decent head retention and definite raw fruit salad aroma (apple, pear, grape, hint of banana) as well as some whiskyish aroma. Spicy flavor dominated by clove, biscuit, bread yeast, dried fruit. A hint of alcohol warmth on the tongue. A pretty rich beer all around with flavors that continued to evolve. Great label! Bosco (65), Boca Raton, Florida, USA Mar 8, 2006 Updated: Apr 26, 2006Sorry, but this beer does not pour brown nor has a tan head (must have been another beer) It pours a light orange with an almost non-existent white head when poured into a chilled glass. Very litte carbonation. Bourbon note from the alcohol. Did not taste the apricot, cinnamon. Finishes crisp with spice.
A whopping $5.99 per 22 ounce bottle in South Florida. winegarner (220), san diego, California, USA Mar 1, 2006 Poured a cloudy light orange with a short lived head. Aroma is like that of a brandy with scents of alcohol, candied fruit and spices. Flavors of apricots, peaches, and coriander are most apparent. The quite a nice fruit and spice complexity as the beer finishes out. Medium bodied and quite sweet for the style but still s very flavorful beer. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Feb 27, 2006 Nice. Pours brown with a big tan head. Aroma is spicy and grainy. Heavy flavor. Lots of malt, yeast, and spice, with some candied fruit. You can definitely taste the cinnamon, especially as the beer warms. Avery always seems to come through.
