Smells of apple, fig, and hay. Medium-thick body. Lots of sweet malt, mild fruitiness, caramel flavors, and a slightly mineral edge. Slight bitter taste of hay and citrus at the end balances out the sweetness. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2008 This clearly wins for most intricate and colorful label I have seen. And its not the only good label Avery has come up with. There are some interesting comments on salvation thru brewing as well. Tan gold pour with moderate head. Fairly sweet honey and malt aroma plus a good amount of yeast. A robust and flavorful golden ale. The taste is hoppy, fresh, and well bittered. Not much spice or citrus notes. The 9 percent ABV is not really noticeable. Pretty straitforward for a Belgian style. That is the American way. I have yet to try a wimpy or lifeless beer from Avery. ericandersnavy (1051), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Poured a cloudy golden with a thin white head and light carbonation. Lots of fruitiness, very sweet aroma, some nutmeg and light hops. Flavors are has a strong spice front which moves into a sweet light peach fruit taste and ends with a yeasty taste. The alcohol is definitely present. The beer as a whole is pretty good. joshwilfong (776), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Not your classic-appearing Belgian-style golden. Mild esters on the nose. Flavor of light candi sugar with some yeasty esters and clove with a fair amount of alcoholic warmth. A flavorful brew, but they don’t necessarily mesh perfectly. A decent strong golden ale. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Aight, golden ale? This in’t a golden. Almost barley wine tendencies. Very very sweet nose and the alcohol is apparent from the beginning. Very interesting brew, with some good and bad tendencies.
