Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Pours golden with lots of bubbles. Fruity esters in the aroma accompanied by some spice and some floral hops. The flavor is very similar almost to a tee. Zesty carbonation and mouth-feel. I enjoyed it.

Rerate, sober this time: Apricot-colored w/a white & foamy head. Fresh yeasty nose. Sharp and strong mouthfeel. Interesting and subtle burnt flavor in the malt. Large hop bitterness in the finish; dryish too. Seems to improve in flavor and become richer with every sip.

Clear golden color with thin white head. Aroma of sweet candy/cane sugar and malt plus a bit of fruit. The taste is light and fresh. Didn’t realize it states 9% ABV on the bottle until I was half way thru the 22 oz. bottle. Really don’t sense the alcohol. I taste sweet candy sugar, banana, spice and some hop bitterness. This Belgium beer doesn’t have the somewhat typical sour tang. I’m not a Belgium beer aficionado but I’d place this beer at the top right behind Orval and Chimay Triple (draft) of the beers I’ve tasted.

Pours a honeyed color with a thick white head. Aromatic, soapy hop smell. Maltier in flavor than it looks. A nice dose of sugar too and balanced.

Pours a deep golden amber with lots of egg white head foaming on the rim. The aroma is very sweet and floral. The flavor is rich and sweet with lots of honey and candi sugars. Little bits of bubblegum flavor and clove arive as it warms up. Very spicy and very complex, this is a very strong and full bodied Belgian, that is very enjoyable.

Fruity Vanilla aroma, which is very enticing. Dark Gold, no head Clean crisp, with all those familiar "Belgian" Flavors - Musty, fruity sweetness, toffee - right up against several American Pale flavors - resiny pine hops, citrus flavors in the finish. This is a cool style buster and a pretty good beer.

22oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma is very complex. Notes of fruit, blueberry, bubblegum, peach, yeast, and nutmeg. Poured golden in color with a big, creamy, off-white/light yellow head that lasted throughout. Very good lacing. Clear and lightly sparkling. Flavor is heavily sweet and lightly sour but not bitter. Tastes heavily of nutmeg and cinnamon. Also hints of coriander and tart cherry. Medium to full body. Flat to soft carbonation. Finish is long and tart/sour. Finish almost makes you pucker your lips. Overall, interesting. I liked it better than I thought I might.

I had a bottle of this for Easter dinner, 2004--theologically appropriate, I think. Lovely golden-amber color, not much head, apparent stickiness as it swirls. Big beer, definitely. Bright aroma of sugar, honey, citrus, alcohol. Lots of malts in the flavors but just as much spiciness, apparently from a combination of the alcohol and hops. Plenty of fruitiness, especially at the colder temperatures, with the quality fading with the temperature. Hoppy bitterness in finish. Big flavors, attractive at times, and yet disconcerting.
