Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Medium to dark gold, OK head. Aroma of pineapple hops, I think this Belgian style beer will have some American traits. Sweetish malts meld into the fruity hops, definite pineapple again, along with some peach flavors. Some interesting bitterness on the finish. Good, unusual beer.

Bottle. Thanks to my brother for sharing this. Aroma has lots of citrus orange rinds and lemons with a fair amount of coriander and some yeast notes. Citrus aromas are more dominant. Mildly hazy blonde/copper color with a nice frothy white head. Start is citrusy orange turning into a very cloying sweet middle. Finish is kind of weak with mild hints of pineapples. Too sweet and cloying for a belgian strong ale. Not enough hops or complexity for me.

Brewtopia’04. Another mild smelling Avery beer, some peachy fruitiness, a bit nutty. Uninspired flavor, grapeskin, slight spice(savory), not enough alcohol presence IMO. Sort of briney. Kind of flowery/hoppy.

Lazy, swirling carbonation, golden-copper color, and a small, loose head. Aroma of stone fruits, warm spices, yeast, and perfume. Assertive flavor of spice, fruit, and baked bread with an organic sweetness of honey and vanilla bean. Considerable depth; very nice and distinctive. Pleasantly surprising because I’ve had this beer in the past, but don’t seem to recall it being this good.

Bomba. Quite a fan of this label! Bready golden malt with strong, Duveleqsue yeast and a spicy (nutmeg and orange rind) smack in the face. Honey and Belgian candy sugar. Golden pour with nary a head. Taste is malty and spicy with noticeable but relatively well incorporated alcohol, overripe fruit on the rise but the yeast backs of significantly from expectations. Slightly woody and has a nice earthy, somewhat bitter note lurking. Very soft mouthfeel, teeth just sink right into it, and the body heft is somewhere around a fullish medium. Craftsmanship! Nice, pleasant, satisfying - really hit the spot today - but not world-burning.

This ones been sitting in my fridge for a long time. There is indeed a lot of apricot in the aroma..very ripe and tangy smelling. Pale, lusterless golden color and a dimunitive head that most Belgian beers would scoff at. Light spice and fruit in the fore. Tastes a little hot in the finish like maybe I should have kept it in the cellar for a year instead of the fridge...still tastes a little clumsy. The base beer is there and i can even taste the apricot I smelled..I kind of like that, but it’s still just a little oafish in the finish.
