Smells of apricots, peaches, & cinamon w/ a bit of malt and a nice clean sweet smell. Highly carbonated palate w/ a medium body. A sweet fruity flavor w/ a swet malt back. Overal a solid belgian.
Re-Rate 1/9/06: Aroma -1 has a generic sweet smell to it w/ candied sugars and some mustiness. Flavor is a bit oversweet -1overall. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2004 Nice cloudy golden color, medium sized head that lasted for some time and then slowly fading to a decent lace. The aroma was fruity and spicey with a decent flavor of light malt but mostly fruit and spice coming through as well as a mild hop taste towards the end.Not a bad brew but not exactly what i’m looking for eather.Decent enough to try again though in the distant future. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2004 22 oz bottle-pours a bright orange hue with a nice big-bubble slightly off-white head. big sweet, candy sugar aroma-big banana. The flavors are like that of a belgian tripple-lots of sweetness, banana, yeast esters. very complex, but not all that well balanced. I got a peppery note in the finish. This beer is just too sweet for me to drink again. After i poured the yeast into the chimay glass, there was a bigger banana aroma going on. Avery did a good job here, just tone down the sugary sweetness and this is a find BSA. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2005 Sparkling dark gold and yellow, big creamy off white head. Sweet nose of Belgian candi sugar, spices and breadiness, with touches of fuzzy fruit sprinkled throughout. Flavor is similar with a light fruity sweetness that sets this off, but on par with Avery, a nice hop bitterness checks in on the backside to keep everything in check. Unfortunately, the ABV shines a bit too much in my opinion, and at times, this is also on par with Avery. "Take it down a notch Scotty". Medium bodied, light carbonation, drying, spicy fruit finish. Still a nice brew however, but in my opinion, oak aging this one in a chardonnay wine barrel could make this one a true winner. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Sampled from bottle: pours a vibrant, translucent golden-orange colour with a small white head. Lacing left behind is scattered, but noticeable. Based on my stuffed up nose, the aroma is of bananna, honey and ripe mangoe. Taste is sweet, bubbly with plenty of tropical fruits. Pineapple and lime. Finishes very nicely.
