Started with a huge head but disipated to just a thin layer on top. No visable carbonation. Crystal clear. Upon the first whiff, honey, perfume, spicey yeast character (clove, cinnamon), and some apricot.
Now the drink. Pear, alcohol, sweet, and sticky. I don’t detect any hops. Its kind of solventy at the end. I think its a fine beer. I may even be drinking this too warm. Fine enough beer. JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Been a while since I’ve had this one, and I recall it being imbalanced and trending towards cloying malt sweetness. Thankfully, this bottle is quite different and combines a very lively champagne fizz with the dry quality of a fine blond and the fruits of a tripel. Nicely hopped to boot and with a substantial body. A good one. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Very smooth mouthfeel. Nice ripe belgian taste. Alcohol could be much more well masked though, it does detract from the flavor a little bit. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2006 22oz bottle. Clear orange-amber hue with a thin ring of white head. Spicy and caramel nose. Bready and citrus aroma. Mildly lively with a sweet caramel, alcohol flavor. Thick and cloying. Tingling effervescence. Long and smooth with a dry long bitter hop finish. Alcohol is rather apparent. Fruity and spicy notes. Almost peachy syrupy with a nutmeg, sweet bread flavor. Smooth and wonderful. tarjei (1753), Bryne, Norway

Aroma is strong fruit and sweetness, hops and hints of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet with dried fruit and alcohol. Nice. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Re-rate, this time from Jason: I got a sample from the bottle of the bottom. BIG aroma - ginger cookie, orange, yeast, caramel. The flavor kicks in with some peppery alcohols, yeast, yogurt, creamy pale malt. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2006 Bottle. Fruity aroma with some hops. If I was blindfolded I would able to tell that this was made by an Americcan brewer by the aroma, though it does have notes of Belgian yeast. Really nice hazy orange body with white to off-white head. Some lace. Big Belgian yeast flavor with dark fruits and candy sugar. Really excellent. Good hop profile, though not hoppy per se. Underrated. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2003 Citrus, lemon and orange -- something of a tripel with hops contributing some of the citrus. Very hoppy for the style. Bright to boot. Slightly creamy. Clove. A bit of calcium carbonate? Medium to very effervescent. This is a strange but welcome space. Very cool.
