Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Pours yellow/amber with a large, almost cascading head. Fair lacing. Yeasty aroma (bananas) and sweet malts dominate. Taste was bananas, cloves, pears, apricots and a little spice. Alcohol was well covered. Medium to heavy body. Well done overall.

Rated 5/11/07: Good effort by Avery on this Golden Belgian Ale. Very aromatic with a thick malt nose along with honey, vanilla, banana, and a profound hop bitterness. Tip-top pour providing a rich golden yellow-orange hue with strong carbonation. A 2" thick head was instantly produced and only dwindled down a little bit leaving a full blanket of white lacing around the glass. Medium to heavy body, it’s borderline thick but drinks rather easily. The finish is slightly tacky which does detract from an overall solid mouthfeel. Flavor is warm and easy, not as rich as the aroma which seems odd. Heavy on the malt with a good familiar Belgian earthiness from the yeast. Mild fruits and clove are encountered along with a strong hop flavor. Peppery and mildly bitter. Very good but not quite great, I did enjoy the entire bottle.

Sample thanks to Book_M_Dano. 2006, 22 oz bottle. Pours golden and clear. Lightly carbonated with light lacing. Spicy green pepper, lightly sweet aroma with alcohol notes. Creamy sweet taste with clove and bitter spice (pepper – and too much for me as usual). Alcohol presence. Creamy medium body. These are just not my favorite styles of beer. Drinkable though.

Flaske: Orange uklar, næsten ingen skum. Diskret duft af gær. Mangler karbonering. Fin krydret smag men ville være langt bedre med bare en anelse karbonering. Må være blevet opbevaret skidt, men stadig en god øl.

Bottled. Aromas of honey and oranges. The flavor is a bit dusty with malt notes. Finishes a bit hot and dry.

Pours a golden color, small white head. Aroma is of peaches, lemons and bananas. Flavor is very sweet, raw sugar and a little belgian flava’ to it. Sweet finish, not my thing . Thanks to MIBRomeo for sharing this one!

Shimmering gold pour with a creamy white head. Funky, spicy Belgian yeast aroma is quite fitting, but overpowers the sweet fruitiness that is present as well. The body is rich and thick, heavily malted from beginning to end. Baked apples, cinnamon, sweet pears are all there. There is a bit of an overload of hop bitterness in the finish, which seems a bit out of whack for the smooth style. Otherwise, pretty solid stuff that I would like to throw in the cellar for a few years.

Nice. Pours brown with a big tan head. Aroma is spicy and grainy. Heavy flavor. Lots of malt, yeast, and spice, with some candied fruit. You can definitely taste the cinnamon, especially as the beer warms. Avery always seems to come through.
